Julian Thorne’s rose–tinted glasses for Maya shattered.
And with Liam Blackwood’s reminders, he began to recall the many suspicious points from his past life, especially the
truth about
my fall.
Julian Thorne locked Maya in the same basement that had once held me captive.
“Speak,” he said methodically, putting on gloves, his fingers toying with a pair of pliers. “How did Anya fall from the building in the past life?”
Maya, her makeup streaked, shook her head. “She jumped herself to frame me…”
A cold glint flashed, and her pinky fingernail was completely pried off.

Amidst her screams, Julian Thorne slowly poured alcohol onto the bloody, raw wound. “Think again.”
For three days and three nights, the screams from the basement never stopped.

When the electroshock device was pressed against Maya’s temple again, she finally broke down and confessed, “I pushed her… because I was jealous of her… Why did I hav
to marry a cripple while she could be with you?!”
Julian Thorne’s hand suddenly trembled violently.
This truth, which he had always been afraid to face, was finally revealed.
He remembered how, after my fall in the previous life, Maya had cried in his arms, “Why did sister do this to harm me…?”
And he had actually believed her, even personally trying to bury the news for Maya.
To destroy any evidence, he even buried me in the cheapest coffin, on a desolate hillside without a tombstone.
“Julian, I was wrong, but it was because I loved you!” Maya wailed, tears streaming down her face. “I’ve told you everything, please let me go!”
Julian Thorne drew a blade along her tear–streaked cheek. “Love?”
He chuckled softly, the tip of the blade slowly moving down to her mouth. “If it wasn’t for you, I would have been with her much sooner. And you deceived me and hurt her. Do you know the price of deceiving me?”
As his words fell, Maya’s tongue was severed with one swift cut.
The pain contorted Maya’s face, but she then watched in horror as he picked up the electroshock device. “Mmm…
mmm…”
“Shhh…” He gently pressed the electrode to her temple. “This is just the beginning.”
The moment he pressed the switch, he leaned close to her ear and whispered, “Every bit of pain you inflicted on her, I will return a hundredfold.””

will return a hundredfold.”
From that day on, Julian Thorne began to appear like a ghost in every corner of my life.
He always watched silently, but never approached.
“The plan still needs more time,” Liam Blackwood said, knowing I was suffering from the disturbance. He closed his suitcase and kissed my furrowed brow. “Let’s go on our honeymoon first.”
At the mention of honeymoon, we both instinctively remembered the rooftop after Maya’s honeymoon in our past life.
So we specifically chose the most secluded Coral Island, wanting to sever the memories of our past lives.
But as the cruise ship’s horn blew, the familiar figure on the deck made my heart sink to the bottom.
Julian Thorne.
He walked towards me, one step at a time, pulling out a stack of photos.
They were all of Maya, brutally tortured and unrecognizable.
Her tongue was severed, her hand and foot tendons seemed to be cut, and her whole body lay on the ground in a twisted posture.
Her face was completely disfigured, even more horrific than mine in my previous life.
“What does this mean?” I stared at the gruesome photos, my body chilling.
Julian Thorne, however, knelt down a step closer, as if presenting a precious gift. “See, I severed the tendons in her hands that pushed you, and cut out the tongue that spread rumors…”
He knelt on the deck, holding up the photos to my eyes. “Even her uterus was removed. If it’s not enough, tell me how else you want to torture her…”
He slammed his forehead heavily onto the deck. “Please give me a chance… please give me a chance to make amends…”
“Julian Thorne, I watched him kneeling and trembling on the deck with cold eyes. “Do you think this makes amends? Is this atonement?”
He looked up, still hopeful. “Anya, I… I can do more…“‘
“Shut up!” I cut him off sharply. “In my past life, when you tortured me by pressing me into boiling water, did you ever give me a chance to beg? You personally pulled out my fingernails, forced me to drink those hallucinogenic drugs…”
Julian Thorne’s face was ashen, his lips trembling, unable to utter a single word.
“Now listen closely, I linked my arm with Liam Blackwood’s, our fingers intertwined. “I love him. My only husband in this life will be Liam Blackwood.”
