Chapter 4
I took the envelope with an unchanged expression and casually tossed the letters into the fireplace.[]
“You know this isn’t the first time my family wanted me to come back,” I said calmly. “But I have a child now–how could I bear to leave you both?”
“They’re just photos of some potential suitors. I’ve already declined.“[]
I knew exactly what Ferris liked to hear.[]
As the now–meaningless documents turned to ash in the flames, his expression visibly relaxed.[]
“Good,” Ferris nodded with obvious satisfaction. “Once a woman is married, family should come first. You’re talented and well–educated from childhood–perfect for raising our son properly.“]]
“In a few days, I plan to throw a welcome party for the baby. I’ll invite all our relatives and friends so everyone can celebrate together.“[]
I nodded with a smile, but inwardly I calculated coldly–the more people who came, the better. The bigger the crowd, the more witnesses there would be for this spectacular show.[]
Time flew by, and soon it was the day of the welcome party.[]
Ferris had booked the ballroom at the finest hotel, sparing no expense to make it an extremely formal affair.[]
Guests streamed in continuously–most of the business moguls and celebrities had come out of respect for me, and many local officials also attended, bringing gifts.
Ferris stood at the entrance greeting guests with a beaming face, practically unable to contain his smile.
Siena stood beside him in a champagne–colored gown, dressed elegantly and dignifiedly. Standing shoulder to shoulder, they looked more like a proper married couple.[]

As the banquet reached its peak, Ferris raised his glass to make a speech, his gaze “lovingly” fixed on me.
“Freya, thank you for giving me a son. As a man, I want to build my own career, so I’ll be going abroad to start a company. I’m entrusting the child to you from now on. I believe you can raise him to be
Siena also smiled radiantly, her voice gentle: “I’m take good care of the child at home.“[]
SO
I’ll be going too. Don’t worry, Freya–with us working hard abroad, you just need to
Many of Ferris and Siena’s friends in the crowd knew the real story and eagerly played along, praising Ferris for his ambition.[]
>
Meanwhile, many guests who had come to the banquet because of my reputation were already sensing the cracks hidden beneath this cheerful facade.[]
The joy in their eyes gradually stiffened, and whispers of confusion and unease rippled through the crowd.
I watched coldly from the side, my fists clenched tight.[]
Ferris had forgotten how he’d looked when he convinced me to give up my inheritance rights and follow him to this small town to start a business.[]
He’d said: “Freya, you’re an only child anyway–the inheritance will definitely be yours. Come with me to start a business in the countryside for a few years. I’ll definitely give you results that will impress your parents!“]
Now he could so casually talk about leaving for foreign lands, pushing all responsibility onto me while playing the role of the devoted father.[]
Someone laughed and praised: “Siena is truly beautiful inside and out, treating this child like her own son. You can see what a harmonious family you allare.“D
Ferris was practically floating on air, his eyes nearly disappearing from smiling.[]
A relative holding the baby looked into the child’s beautiful eyes and smiled at me: “Freya, this baby looks so much like you. He’s going to be incredibly handsome when he grows up.“[]
Hearing this, Siena’s face stiffened, and she forced a smile while correcting: “Not at all! He obviously looks like his father! He’s the spitting image of Terris!”
Chapter 4
The relative glanced at me awkwardly.
I just smiled lightly and said nothing.
Siena affectionately picked up the child, as if she truly couldn’t bear to be separated from him.
But after holding him for only a few minutes, the baby suddenly burst into wailing.
Then she cried out in alarm–looking down, she saw the swaddling blanket was soaked through.[]
A relative quickly came to help: “He wet himself. No problem, I’ll change him.“]
Siena’s expression shifted, clearly disgusted, and she immediately pushed the child away, stepping aside to watch.[]
But the moment the relative unwrapped the baby’s clothes to change the diaper, Siena stumbled backward, her face white as paper, and let out a piercing scream.]
Ferris rushed over at the sound: “What’s wrong?“]
Siena stared at the child, her voice trembling: “He… he… why doesn’t he have the birthmark?”
