Zeke had no choice but to let Marcus leave.
Marcus stood up, straightening his clothes, maintaining his composure as if nothing could make him panic.
As he reached the door, Marcus suddenly stopped. He turned back to look at Zeke and insisted, “I’ve mentioned it before, if you want to solve the case and catch the serial killer, stop focusing on Madeline. She’s very clever, even more so than you imagine. This is just her way of forcing me to marry her, but she doesn’t know she’s misleading your investigation.
Zeke remained silent.

I clenched my fists tightly. A surge of hatred and anger overwhelmed me, and I almost lost control.
When did I last threaten her? Clearly, she was the one who had someone kill me.

“Around two or three months ago, I can’t remember the exact date. Marcus took me home, and Maddy and I had a dispute. She pushed me down the stairs, causing severe injuries and hospitalisation. I almost didn’t make it. Bella sighed as if resentful.
Zeke scowled and questioned, “Why didn’t you report it to the police if you suspect Madeline of deliberate injury?”
“She’s Marcus’s sister, but she’s just being stubborn. I wanted to give her a chance. If I reported her, she would be punished. Maddy is young, and I didn’t want to ruin her life but give her a chance to redeem herself, Bella spoke as if she were a saint.
I cried out uncontrollably, struggled hard, and tried to hit her, but it was futile.

I began to worry and fear that Bella would deceive Zeke.
