Chapter 9
During this week–plus in the hospital, Leonard didn’t stay constantly like before but came every few days.
Isabelle knew he was running back and forth to take care of Anora and showed no dissatisfaction.
On discharge day, he personally came to pick her up but left hurriedly. after dropping her at home.
After watching his car disappear from view, Isabelle received a call from the immigration office, notifying her that her paperwork was ready.
She retrieved her documents, then canceled her household registration. and ID card.
After finishing these tasks, she returned home and began packing her bags.
She found many couple items, photos, and baby clothes and toys she’d bought earlier. She threw them all away.
While she was disposing of these things, Leonard returned with a trunk full of luxury handbags.
He walked quickly toward her, excited to show her the handbags. But when his eyes caught what was in the trash, his expression darkened. “Baby, are you still angry with me? Is that why you’re throwing away? I bought you lots of handbags. Let’s forget those unpleasant things, okay?”
All these
If it were that easy to forget, Isabelle wouldn’t have suffered for so long.
Chapter 9
She looked at the mountain of gift boxes, her voice weary.
“I’m not angry. And I don’t need the gifts.”
Seeing her unusual attitude, Leonard grabbed her hand. “What’s wrong with you lately? If I’ve done something wrong, tell me. Can we solve this peacefully?”
Isabelle had no answer and could only remain silent.
Leonard’s frown deepened. Just as he was about to press further, her phone rang.
“Bella, come to the hospital quickly! Your aunt suddenly fainted. The doctor examined her and said that it’s acute kidney failure!”
Standing nearby and hearing this news, Leonard exploded, losing all rationality.
The color drained from his face, and his body trembled uncontrollably.
Seeing him panicked yet still wanting to drive, Isabelle quickly took the car keys and brought him to the hospital.
At the hospital, the entire Barnett family had gathered, all testing for kidney compatibility.
The doctors worked busily while murmuring to each other.
“Only 27 years old, so young to get this disease. They don’t have many family members. The chances of finding a match seem extremely low!”
Leonard’s hand shook violently, veins bulging on his forehead.
Looking at Anora unconscious on the bed, he turned and gripped Isabelle’s shoulders, his voice filled with desperation.

“Bella, you should get tested too.”
When Isabelle’s uncle heard this, he was immediately shocked and tried to stop it.
“No way! Bella is pregnant. She can’t get tested.”
But Leonard insisted on taking her for testing.
Isabelle couldn’t bear it anymore. She shook off his hand and looked him straight in the eyes.
“If I’m a match, what would happen to the baby?”
Leonard’s mind went blank, and he blurted out what was in his heart.
“Saving a life comes first. Bella, you’re still young. We can have more children. She’s your aunt, your mother’s younger sister. How can you
watch her suffer?”
Hearing these words, Isabelle’s eyes suddenly reddened.
A moment later, she lowered her head and smiled. She suddenly felt grateful she had aborted the child.
She asked no more questions and walked into the testing room.
Not to save his lover.
But to save her aunt.
