Chapter 7
“Ethan! You’ve always stolen things from me since we were kids, and now you dare to steal my wife?!”
This was the first time I heard Adrian call me his wife.
All these years, he’d mostly referred to me as that woman, that slut, or that tramp.
Thinking about this, I almost wanted to laugh.
I stood behind Ethan, watching Adrian struggle in the courtyard.
My chest still ached in waves, tight and uncomfortable.
“Sophia…”
The moment Adrian saw me, his eyes reddened.
When Adrian and I first got together, we were both shy with each other.
He’d always blush, and whenever he felt slightly wronged, he’d ask me with red eyes if I loved him.
Each time, I comforted him like a child, never tiring of it.
But later, because of my mother’s selfishness, everything ended.
“Adrian, go home. I won’t leave with you.
“Both my parents are gone now. I have nothing to hold onto anymore. The debt from my mother’s mistakes should be paid after ten years.
“From now on, we owe each other nothing.

Chapter 7
Adrian’s eyes reddened in circles, his puppy–dog eyes filled with hurt.
“Sophia, I didn’t know your mom died. If I had known, I would never have said those things to you.
“Believe me, I truly don’t blame you anymore. From now on, can we live happily together?
I’ve let all ten women in the house go, really! From now on, you’ll be the only lady of the house!”
Adrian could barely look me in the eye, his gaze wandering as he spoke.
I shook my head, hooked my arm through Ethan’s, and looked down at Adrian with indifference. “Adrian, on our tenth anniversary, it was my 100th time asking for a divorce. From the first time I mentioned divorce, I’d decided that once I reached a hundred, I’d really leave.
“Adrian, love gets used up. I truly don’t love you anymore.
“Remember to sign the divorce papers.”
After speaking, I turned and walked back to the room, but the dull pain in my chest almost left me breathless.
I didn’t love Adrian anymore.
But the wounds I’d suffered made it impossible to forget.
Adrian charged forward like a madman, but Ethan restrained him.
“Adrian, if you dare break in, I’ll make the Kensington family pay with their lives!”
The Harrington family was now Los Angeles’s most prestigious household, several ranks above the Kensington family.

No matter how wealthy the Kensington family were, they couldn’t compare to this kind of family lineage. This was partly why Adrian had always hated Ethan.
“Even if you don’t sign the divorce papers, I still have ways to make sure she’ll never belong to you!”
Ethan threatened, his face dark as he leaned close to Adrian’s ear.
I didn’t know how Adrian left after that. I only knew that peace returned outside.
That night, Ethan sat beside me as we watched the stars.
Looking at his somewhat familiar profile, I asked the question on my mind.
“Ethan, have we met when we were young?”
Ethan’s pupils contracted as he turned to me. “You remember?”
I shook my head, saying it was just a feeling.
Ethan lowered his head in disappointment, then told me about how he’d spent every summer in the countryside with me until he was ten.
I was shocked to discover I had no memory of this at all.
“It’s okay. Now we have plenty of time to create memories.”
Looking at Ethan, my chest again felt the dull pain of being pressed by a
stone.
“Ethan, I’ve heard there’s a surgery that can make people forget painful things. Can you take me to get it?
“I want to use a brand new self to slowly develop feelings with you.”
