Chapter 22 Divorce Him After Quincy’s Matter Is Fixed
Before Cecilia could finish speaking, Kolton shook off her hand.
Without looking back, he strode toward the bedroom door. “I’ll have Trenton handle it.”
Trenton acted with Kolton’s full authority. He would undoubtedly resolve Quincy’s situation properly.
Cecilia hadn’t expected Kolton to personally deal with Quincy’s affairs
anyway.
But the thought of him running around for Iris, backing her up at every turn while dumping his own wife’s problems on Trenton, left her feeling disheartened.
After a sleepless night, she still wasn’t sleepy. Too uneasy to rest, she called Trenton and told him to contact Moses.
Trenton took over completely, coordinating with Moses to investigate Quincy’s case.
With that, Cecilia was left with nothing to do.
She got up and went downstairs, retrieving her long–shut–off phone from her bag by the entryway.
The moment it powered on after charging, a flood of missed calls and messages poured in, most from Veronica, who had been terrified when Cecilia didn’t return all night with her phone off.
She quickly called Veronica back, and the line connected almost instantly.
00:48
Veronica’s tone wasn’t as severe as Cecilia had feared.
“I… I came back to Kolton’s place.”
Cecilia’s voice was low, bracing for Veronica’s scolding.
“I know,” Veronica said sharply. “I saw Kolton’s assistant bringing a lawyer to the police station.”
Veronica had come to the police station to report Cecilia’s disappearance.
By chance, she spotted Trenton arriving with Moses to discuss Quincy’s
case.
The fact that Kolton was taking over Quincy’s matters proved something was going on between him and Cecilia.
“Cecilia, you’d better give me a good explanation…”
Before Veronica could finish, Cecilia responded firmly and quickly, “It’s not that we’re not divorcing. We will, once he handles Quincy’s situation.”
Veronica walked down the police station steps, pausing mid–step when
she heard this.
A second later, she smirked, “So you’re using Kolton? Fine, I forgive
you!”
Cecilia didn’t feel satisfied. Instead, she grew anxious.
Since when was Kolton someone who could be easily used with costs?
She needed to prepare for his retaliation.
The thought made her suddenly remember Azureon Group had scheduled an interview with her!
A whole day had passed. She’d completely forgotten, and Azureon Group

hadn’t contacted her again.
She quickly dialed the number from the interview notification.
The call connected immediately.
She introduced herself and apologized, “I’m sorry, yesterday I had…”
“Ms. Bradshaw, Mr. Harrington just returned to the country and has been busy. Would you be available for the interview at 9 AM today instead?” the woman on the other end spoke in a gentle and polite tone.
Cecilia was immensely relieved. “Yes, thank you!”
It wasn’t even eight o’clock yet, so she had enough time to get there.
The only problem was that she didn’t have any professional clothes at Kolton’s place. She settled for a simple pair of jeans and a black trench coat.
She arrived at Azureon Group at 8:50, stepping into the building right on time and heading straight for the reception desk.
Azureon Group occupied three floors of the office building in the business district.
The first floor served as the reception area, while the second floor accommodated the designers‘ workspaces.
The third floor contained executive offices and meeting rooms.
Cecilia’s interview was also on the third floor, in a room right next to the
CEO’s office.
Through the frosted glass of the executive suite, she could faintly make out a tall figure sitting at the desk.
She followed the receptionist into the adjacent room and looked away.
00:48
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Ms. Bradshaw. Please wait here. Mr. Harrington will see you once he’s finished with his matters.”
The receptionist brought her a cup of coffee before leaving.
If she didn’t land this job at Azureon Group, Cecilia would have a hard time finding another suitable design firm in Sevarin.
Compared to her previous interviews, she felt even more uneasy and nervous this time.
The minutes dragged by. The office was so quiet, and she fidgeted restlessly in her seat.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded outside, and the office door swung open.
Jerome walked in, followed by a few others.
Cecilia instinctively stood up, but the moment she recognized Jerome, she froze mid–motion, her back slightly hunched.
Mr. Harrington … was Jerome?
“Ms. Bradshaw, please, have a seat.”
Jerome pulled out the chair at the head of the table and sat down.
He smiled politely as if he didn’t know her at all.
The others took their seats around him, and the interview began.
Cecilia’s resume was straightforward enough to summarize at a glance.
Starting with Jerome, each interviewer mechanically asked her questions about design concepts.

She answered fluently at first, but when the last interviewer mentioned the most hyped design style of the year, she grew slightly embarrassed.
Having focused entirely on Kolton, she hadn’t kept up with recent design developments and couldn’t properly compare this year’s styles with last year’s.
“Let’s wrap this up,” Jerome said, tapping his fingers on the table.
Shortly after, the receptionist entered and asked Cecilia to leave.
She politely bid farewell to the interviewers and followed the receptionist
out.
“Ms. Bradshaw, we’ll call you with the results within two business days,” the receptionist informed her while leading her to the elevator.
“OK. Thank you,” Cecilia replied.
Cecilia glanced back at the office where Jerome and the others remained, presumably discussing whether to hire her.
She was surprised to see Jerome involved but had no intention of asking for special favors that might put him in an awkward position.
As she exited Azureon Group’s building, her phone buzzed with an unexpected message from Kolton.
He said he would work overtime and return home late, asking her to prepare dinner and wait for him.
This was unusual – Kolton never normally notified her about working
overtime.
For some reason, he’d chosen to message today.
Cecilia would return home as planned and cook dinner to wait for him.

After all, the Quincy matter remained unresolved.

At the Azureon Group office, Jerome’s proposal to hire Cecilia met with opposition from half the attendees.
“Mr. Harrington,” one executive said, “while she has some reputation, we have many fresh graduates who better understand current design trends.”
Another added, “Her award–winning graduation work might make her too proud to accept an assistant designer position.”
However, a different voice countered, “Ms. Bradshaw seems quite humble. She might surprise us all if given the chance.”
Opinions were divided, but the final decision rested with Jerome.
After some moments of silence, he spoke, “I agree with Mr. Dormer.”
Since Kaleb Dormer had been the last to speak in Cecilia’s favor, this meant Jerome approved the hire.
His authority silenced further objections.
The decision was made immediately, and that evening, Azureon HR department called Cecilia with the news, “Please come to Azureon Design Department next Monday to begin work.”
Cecilia was cooking soup when the call came.
She nearly dropped her ceramic spoon in excitement. “Yes, thank you!”
“You’re welcome. We look forward to having you join Azureon Group.”
“I’m thrilled to be joining Azureon Group too,” Cecilia replied.
As her chicken soup bubbled on the stove, steam rising from the pot, her

phone screen went dark after the call ended.
The darkened screen reflected her smiling face with its characteristic dimples.
“What illegal organization did you join to get this excited?” Kolton’s voice suddenly came from behind her.
Startled, Cecilia dropped the ceramic spoon she’d just picked up. This time it fell to the floor and shattered.
