(Aria’s POV)
Richard was dressed impeccably in a formal suit, his dyed black hair combed meticulously back from his forehead. Looking at him now, I had to admit that compared to the average middle–aged man in his forties or fifties, my father–in–law appeared remarkably youthful.
Years of fitness training had maintained his muscular physique. He certainly didn’t look like he was approaching fifty.
As Richard surveyed the room, I instinctively tensed and shifted closer to Dominic, who placed a protective hand on my lower back.
“He’s looking for someone,” I whispered.
“Claire,” Dominic confirmed, nodding toward the other side of the room where Claire had just finished her photoshoot with some territory officials.
We watched as Richard approached Claire, who turned to him with visible surprise.
“Alpha Richard, why are you here?” Claire’s voice carried to us despite the crowd. Her reaction didn’t seem fake; she genuinely appeared not to have expected him.
“Of course I came to show my support to my dear Claire!” Richard smiled broadly, immediately stepping closer to her. “You don’t

“Thank you.” I took it quickly, grateful for his attentiveness.
After drinking the water, I felt the nausea subsiding. However, when I looked up at where Claire and Richard had been standing, they had disappeared.
“Where did they go?” I stood up instinctively, scanning the crowd.
“Don’t worry.” Dominic’s palms suddenly pressed on both sides of my head, gently turning it in one direction. “They went over there.”
I spotted them heading toward a hallway leading away from the main reception. I hurriedly moved to follow them, but Dominic grabbed my wrist, holding me back.
“Wait a minute,” he said calmly.
“Wait for what?” I asked, anxious not to lose sight of them.
Dominic’s lips curled slightly, his smile both evil and playful. “Wait for dry wood to meet the raging fire.”
I stared at him, understanding his meaning. “Worthy of being a cunning Alpha…”
Time passed minute by minute as we waited. My anxiety grew with each passing moment, but Dominic remained leisurely beside me. He even disappeared briefly, returning with a plate of moonberry fruits.
“Have some,” he offered, holding the plate out to me.
The sweet–tart berries helped calm my nerves, but I couldn’t stop glancing toward the hallway where Claire and Richard had disappeared.
After I’d eaten half the fruit, Dominic stood up and said, “Let’s go and watch the show.”
I quickly put down the fruit plate and followed him to where Claire and Richard had vanished. The awards ceremony was being held in a five–star hotel with multiple corridors branching off from the main reception area.

“Shh…” Dominic pressed his finger to his lips, making a silencing gesture. He then pointed to a dressing room not far away.

I quickly covered my mouth, following Dominic step by step toward the dressing room with bated breath. As we approached, I heard a faint moan, unmistakably the sound of a she–wolf in pleasure.
My heart raced as Dominic slowly pushed open the door of another fitting room directly across the hall. Immediately, we could clearly hear the voices of a male and female werewolf.
“Alpha Richard… please, don’t… What if someone finds out?” Claire’s voice was filled with fear, obviously terrified of discovery.
“I can’t stand it anymore, Claire, be good…” Richard’s voice was heavy with desire.
When I heard his labored breathing, I couldn’t help but cover my mouth, afraid to make any sound. It was actually true! My face filled with shock and disbelief.
Claire and Richard? Were they insane? Claire was about to have her marking ceremony with Alexander at the end of the month! She was even pregnant with what was supposedly Alexander’s pup… But she was having an affair with Alexander’s father?!
“No…” Claire was obviously still somewhat rational and kept resisting.
After the rustling sound of fabric against fabric, Richard’s voice changed to a husky growl. “Claire, you’re not wearing anything underneath… Are you waiting for me?”
“Oh, there’s no way to wear this kind of dress with What are you doing…”

Although Dominic’s hands prevented me from hearing the obscene words and sounds from Claire and Richard, I knew exactly what they must be doing! And here I was, eavesdropping with Dominic on this intimate encounter…
Just when I thought I might die of embarrassment, wishing the floor would open up and swallow me, the hands on my ears suddenly loosened. I looked up in surprise.steam

I blinked in surprise. It was so fast. I even doubted whether it had lasted a minute.

“Who told you to be so coquettish today! Are you deliberately seducing me?” Richard retorted.
“How could !?” Claire’s voice was playful as she apparently hit him. “Alpha Richard,
you so mean. You always do this. Last time when Alexander accompanied me to the hospital, he almost found out. Fortunately, I lied to the doctor and said that I hit my stomach, so we didn’t get caught.”
Hearing this, I instinctively looked at Dominic – he was right. From the beginning, Dominic’s suspicion had started with Claire’s pregnancy test results…
It seemed that the woman who was with Richard when I went to my mother–in–law’s room that day was Claire! Thinking of this, a burst of anger suddenly rose in my chest!

“That won’t do either. Don’t do that next time.” Claire complained while tidying up her clothes, “I was counting on this pup to secure my marking ceremony with Alexander. He seemed to like pups very much. When he heard that I was pregnant, he immediately agreed to sever his mate bond with Aria and mark me…”
