Chapter 7%
“It’s you!” I said in disbelief as if trying to convince myself that it wasn’t him.
“Yes it’s me, and we are late for the appointment if you don’t mind” he replied stretching out his hand I took it, his grip was firm yet gentle. “So is there anything you would like to know before we go further, remember Kayla once it’s done there is no going back,” he said as we walked into the building.
“… …” At that moment I forgot all the questions I said I was going to ask on my way here, “Nothing, I want to do this” I blurted out.
Ten minutes later we came out of the city hall as husband and wife, his hands didn’t leave mine, suddenly my phone rang, I looked at the phone screen and immediately excused myself when I realized it was Vincent.”
He has been calling me but I have refused to pick but I know I have to now, not because I want to but because I have to break every bond I share with him before I can fully embark on this new journey. I have to cut the mate bond between us by rejecting him.
After I was done with that I got into the car with Hardin. “Are you okay?” he asked with a hint of concern in his voice.” “Never better” I replied with a smile.
He signaled to the driver to drive, and in no time we arrived at a very huge mansion, I was already legally married to Hardin which meant we could live together before the main grand wedding.
“Welcome to your new home!” he announced as I got out of the car, I stood there in awe staring at the huge mansion which looked nothing like the one Vincent bought in Virginia.”
We got into the house and Hardin took his time to show me around the house, he seemed surprisingly kind and gentle but he didn’t talk much, sometimes he stared at me in a way that made me feel uncomfortable. He wasn’t the no–nonsense and heartless man I was expecting to meet.
That night he slept on the couch while I lay on the bed, I was confused by his action not that I was ready to be intimate, I just felt consummating the marriage was necessary on the first night.
“When you are comfortable we will share the bed,” he said as if he could read my thoughts.”
I nod and let out a heavy sigh of relief, through the night I couldn’t stop thinking about Hardin which was odd because I only just met him, I felt a strong connection between us, I don’t know what it was but it became stronger after I broke my mate bond with Vincent.
Over the next few days, I and Hardin spent time in the house getting to know each other, I found out he wasn’t the cruel mystery master everyone thought he was, but I also noticed he hadn’t made any attempt to touch me not even a hug.
It’s either he doesn’t find me attractive or he is… I am trying too hard not to think that far, but the fact that he hasn’t been with any lady made it worse.
“Your mother said you are an omega” he broke into my thoughts. We were on our way to the mall to Shop for my wedding dress. “Hardly, I can’t use my gift I replied, Vincent’s remark flashing through my head at that moment.}
“You can, you just have to channel your emotions in the right direction” he replied as he held my hand and squeezed it tightly.
I looked at him an idea crossing through my mind, what if I make the first move? So I moved closer to him and lay on his chest. His body became terised up but didn’t push me away which was a good start, I decided to make another move but was cut short by the voice of the driver announcing we were at the mall.
“Come, I have a surprise for you” Hardin spoke as he guided me into the mall.
We arrived at the city’s most opulent bridal boutique, As I stepped inside, my gaze was immediately drawn to a breathtaking gown displayed in the window.
“Go on, try it,” Hardin said pointing towards the wedding dress.”
Minutes later, I emerged from the fitting room, adorned in the dress. Hardin’s eyes locked onto mine, and for a fleeting moment, he seemed transfixed, as if time itself had paused.?
“Hardin?” I called softly, trying to rouse him from his trance–like state.”
He blinked, his voice low and husky. “You look beautiful…” I lowered my eyes demurely, a shy smile spreading across my face.
Hardin’s expression turned serious, his eyes searching mine. “Kayla, actually, 1-”
But before he could finish, a familiar voice sliced through the air, its icy tone sending shivers down my spine.!!
“Kayla! I’ve finally found you!”
