Chapter 7 A Fool
When Jayden saw the police arrive, he immediately dropped to his knees, begging me to forgive him.
“Wynter, after all these years together, please forgive me this once. Nicole is my daughter. How could I ever harm her?”
But his words didn’t soften me. Instead, I handed the police the video of him cheating with Elisa.
I also gave them proof of the bribes he had taken from the Schultz Group over the years.
When he saw I wouldn’t back down, he stopped acting weak.
He stood up, looked at me arrogantly, and accused me.
“Officer, all these videos were secretly recorded by Wynter. She violated my privacy.”
The crowd immediately looked at him with disgust.
Even without considering his cheating, the footage was taken from the surveillance cameras at home.
Besides, the house belonged to my father and was given solely to me.
Although Jayden was my husband, nothing in my family legally belonged to him.
To put it bluntly, it was perfectly legal for me to install cameras in my home, and the videos weren’t secret recordings.
Chapter 7 A Fool
It was indeed inappropriate to expose them publicly, but I was ready to face any punishment for it.
Jayden had planned to use that against me, but he didn’t expect me to get into the police car without protest.
Seeing that I stayed calm, he grew nervous.
“Honey, everyone makes mistakes. This is just a small one. Shouldn’t we put our daughter first?”
“You mean Nicole?”
Jayden thought I’d give in and nodded eagerly.
I sneered. “You want me to take responsibility for a child that belongs to you and Elisa? That’s never going to happen. Tomorrow, I’ll officially disown Nicole from the Schultz family.”
“How dare you!”
Jayden got angry and glared at me, but I had already closed my eyes.
I just signed a citation at the police station and left, ignoring his stare.
Afterward, I didn’t visit Nicole in the hospital.
Instead, I anonymously sent information about the lab that made the custom drugs for Jayden and Nicole to the police.
In just three days, the police found Jayden’s drug purchase records. During the interrogation, he took full blame.
When I heard the news, I laughed.
I knew exactly how much Jayden cared for Nicole, though he didn’t know she wasn’t his biological daughter.
It was only after we married that I
count.
But because I loved him, I kept it a secret.
I told my parents I was the one who had trouble conceiving.
After they accepted it, I searched everywhere for medication and finally got pregnant.
Sadly, I lost the baby after a fall at work when I was five months along.
Since then, I had never gotten pregnant again.
Jayden had always believed I couldn’t have children, but he never realized how lucky I was to get pregnant that one time.
Since it was already hard for me, I found it suspicious that Elisa got pregnant in just three days, especially with someone like Jayden, who had a low sperm count.
So, I had a friend look into it.
The investigation showed that Elisa wasn’t only involved with Jayden; she had another man in her life as well.
Her second lover was her childhood crush, the one who supplied the drugs.
He turned out to be Nicole’s biological father.
Since Jayden was so eager to protect Nicole, I figured I’d be kind enough
to let him know the truth.
