Chapter 8
The voice carried a familiar threat
Victoria put down her phone and looked down at the cat in her arms.
“It’s okay. I won’t leave you again.”
Tomorrow came quickly, and when Victoria pushed open the door to the meeting room, the air froze for a moment
There were no red lips and high heels of the past, no figure curves outlined by tight skirts. She just wore a loose white T–shirt, light jeans, and casually tied her hair in a ponytail. Even on her plain face, you could see faint freckles.
In his arms was also a ginger cat.
d never seen Victoria like this in ten years.
The people in the meeting room were stunned for a few seconds. They had
There was no aggression, no oppression, clean as a girl on a university campus.
She ignored all the surprised looks and walked straight to her seat.
When her gaze swept in Howard’s direction, she paused. The man was propping his chin with one hand, his gaze falling heavily on her, with emotions hidden and unclear in the depths of his eyes.
Victoria withdrew her gaze lightly and placed Cocoa in her arms in a corner where others couldn’t see

a portable cat bowl from her bag, poured some cat food, and placed a yam ball next to it. Cocoa lowered her head, sniffed, and quietly started
The lights in the mosting room were cold white. Howard stood at the front, his slender fingers tapping on the table, signaling everyone to be quiet “This mission was very dangerous.”
His voice was low, and his gaze swept over everyone present.
“The police bad already targeted our trading route, they got wind of it in advance.”
“The trading time, location, and personnel were all rearranged”
He clicked on the next slide, which showed several blurry surveillance screenshots.
“These individuals were planted by the police as informants. If they identify any suspicious individuals, they are to be dealt with immediately.
Victoria
She looked up and met his gaze
“You were in charge of support.”
“The usual place, two in the morning.”
Victoria didn’t say anything, she just nodded slightly.
The meeting had
just ended when suddenly a sharp scream was heard outside the door.
Victoria paused, her heart suddenly tightening, that was Beatrice’s voice.
She almost instinctively rushed out, only to see the corner where Cocoa was placed, Beatrice sitting on th the floor.
Wille Coroa squatted beside, with a glaring red stain on the corner of his mouth, he was s Vetoria rushed over and scoped Coco to her arms.
the ground holding her wrist, tears dropping onto
staring alertly at Beatrice, emitting a low growl from his throat.
She called it softly, her fingers quickly checking its body. Cocos pressed against her neck, and let out a solt “new” in a pitiful manner.
For seven years together, Victoria had never seen it bite anyone, unless
Victoria looked up coldly at Beatrice.
“What did you do to it?”
Beatrice’s eye sockets were red, tears falling down in large drops, her voice trembling,
“I, I just wanted to touch it. It suddenly bit me…”
No sooner had the words fallen when hurled footsteps were heard from behind,
Howard brought people over, his gaze lingering on Beatrice’s blood stained hands, his face instantly darkening
“Victoria, take care of your animals|”
Victoria hugged Cocoa tightly, stood up, and looked directly at Howard.
“It never attacks people unless provoked first.”
She started looking at the wall in the corner and noticed that the old camera had not been repaired for a long time.
“Are you saying that Beatrice deserved it?”
“I mean.”
Victoria said one word at a time.
“She Bed.”
Beatrice cried even harder, trembling as she hid behind Howard,
“Howard… I’m in so much pain”
Howard’s eyes turned completely cold.
“Capture that beast.”
With a command, several henchmen immediately surrounded him.
Victoria’s eyes narrowed, one hand holding Cocoa while the other hand reached for the dagger at her waist. “Victoria, don’t make it di
It difficult for us,”
She didn’t say a word, just coldly scanned each person, all of whom used to be her companions, but now they were turning against her for a pretentious
Woman
Victoria was extremely skilled, even holding a cat, she managed to knock down five people forcefully. However, as more and more people gathered, she was eventually pinned to the ground, her wrist tightly held, and her back pressed down by a knee, rendering her unable to move.
Cocoa was pulled out of her arms.
“Howard!”
Victoria struggled to lift her head, her voice hoarse,
“Are you brave enough to touch it and see!”
Howard expressionlessly picked up Cocoa by the back of her neck and walled to the window.
“Howard!”
Her voice was almost tearing
The next second, he let go of his hand.
Cocoa’s figure fell from the window and disappeared into the dusk.
