Apologize?
Dorothy couldn’t help but smile bitterly. Clutching the divorce papers, she tried her best to sound as calm as possible. “Are you gonna come back tonight?”
“Dwayne? Who are you talking to?”
She heard Sonia’s delicate voice clearly.
“Someone from work,” Dwayne answered casually, not caring that Dorothy could hear him at all. “When are you getting off work? I’ll come with you to pick Brenden up.“[]
Sonia smiled even more happily, “I’m not busy, so I should be able to leave at 6 o’clock.“[]
Dwayne hung up before Dorothy could come back to her senses.]
The gloominess on her face was more than obvious.[]
She stared at the signed divorce papers.[]
She had wanted Dwayne to come back and sign the papers, but he didn’t even have enough patience to let her finish.[]
How ridiculous.
She should never have taken his promise seriously.[]

Dwayne and Sonia went to the kindergarten together to pick Brenden up.
Brenden was walking through the gate together with Alison. As he saw Dwayne, he broke free from Alison’s hand and sprinted over. “Daddy!”
Under everyone’s gaze, he threw himself at Dwayne and hugged Dwayne’s thigh, beaming. “Daddy, are you here with Mommy to pick me up?“]
With a smile, Alison walked over to Dwayne and Sonia. “Mr. Lambert, Mrs. Lambert, your son was great in class today. The teacher praised him in front of everyone!“[]
Dwayne looked at her, his face tinged with displeasure. “Mrs. Lambert?“]
Alison was stunned.
Wasn’t Sonia Dwayne’s wife?]
Sonia hastily tugged at Dwayne’s sleeve and said, “Don’t get upset, Dwayne. I’m sure it’s just a misunderstanding.“With that, she turned to Alison. “Ms. Greenwood, please don’t address me as Mrs. Lambert again.“]
Alison was baffled
She thought, “What’s going on?]
“When we were in the kindergarten, she implied that Brenden was indeed Mr. Lambert’s son.[]
If she’s not Mr. Lambert’s wife, then Brenden…
“Sure enough, the most unbelievable drama always comes from rich families.“]
Brenden stepped back a little, terrified by the look on Dwayne’s face. “Daddy… Did I do something wrong?”
