Ignoring the viewers‘ attempts to stop her, Alisa hastily shut down the livestream.
Alisa looked up at me, her face plastered with a pleasing, begging smile.
“Daisy, you never mentioned knowing such an amazing doctor. This is all just a misunderstanding–we’re all family here!
“If I’d known Dr. Olson had already examined you, I wouldn’t have come here at all. Not only couldn’t I help you, but now people are questioning me.”
Hearing her sarcastic words made me feel sick to my stomach.
Seeing me protected behind Hugo, Evan’s face twisted with embarrassment before he forced himself to appear calm and reached out to grab my arm.
“Daisy, this is just a misunderstanding. I had no idea you actually went to the hospital for a hysterectomy–I thought you were joking.
“Besides, why didn’t you tell me beforehand about the surgery? My mom’s counting on us having a baby soon. How are you supposed to get pregnant after removing your uterus?”
Even while apologizing, Evan’s tone remained condescending

My heart turned ice–cold as I stared at him, my eyes filled with hatred and heartbreak.
Throughout our two–year relationship, I’d never looked down on Evan’s rural family background. On the contrary, I’d always tried to support him and help him ffinancially whenever possible.
My family wasn’t wealthy either. Both my parents were teachers who’d raised me to be kind and gentle, never engaging in scheming or manipulation.
After dating Evan, he made many unreasonable demands, but thinking I needed to accommodate his pride, II mever fought back.
Every holiday, I’d prepare generous gifts for Evansparents, yet as elders, they never gave me anything in return..
Not only that, but Evan’s mother would frequently calllme during work hours, telling me to take good care of her son. She’d say that being Evan’s girlfriend was the greatest luck of my life..
I endured it all for the sake of what I thought was genuine love between Evan and me. I didn’t want other factors to affect our relationship.
But could Evan really not know how his parents treated me?

“Daisy, say something. Alisa misdiagnosing your pregnancy isn’t such a big deal. Everyone makes mistakes, right? Just forgive her.
“She’s going to be a doctor someday. If this gets blown out of proportion, her entire career will be ruined.
“Be the bigger person and stop being so petty. Post a statement online saying Alisa didn’t misdiagnose you–just say you had an abortion beforehand to protect her reputation.
“I won’t break up with you either, and we can go back to how things were before. It’s a win–win.”

I lunged forward and landed two solid punches on his face, one after
the other.
He called me petty.
If Alisa’s reputation mattered, didn’t mine matter too?
They knew public opinion could destroy someone. So in my past life,
I deserved to die, is that it?
