Chapter 16
If I were 21, I definitely would have said no.
Back then I was too naive and young, thinking that loving someone sincerely would always yield results.[]
But reality proved me wrong.[]
Now I’m 28, and Julian has left me physically and emotionally exhausted. I don’t even have the energy to pretend with others anymore.
Loving someone again would be tiring.
I think I’m better suited to being taken care of now.
I blinked and smiled. “Sure.“]]
For several days, Gideon was exceptionally attentive. He seemed to have completely forgotten our past misunderstandings and threw himself wholeheartedly into this new relationship.[]
His service mentality was excellent.[]
I only had to sit still while Gideon brought me everything on silver platters.
Just like how I used to care for Julian.
Maybe this was the energy of youth?]
Endless stamina, as if he never needed rest. His vigor was almost inexhaustible. In just a few days, he’d taken me to countless attractions.[]
Even so, he was particularly fierce at night.[]
Only during our first time did Gideon hesitate, suddenly asking, “Baby, you’ve never done this before?”
I closed my eyes, unable to help thinking of Julian.[]
Seven years of a sexless marriage–any woman would feel humiliated.[]
After all, men are driven by their senses and desires.[]
Yet Julian was cold to me from head to toe.[]
Seeing me lost in thought, Gideon flinched.
He kissed me possessively, murmuring. “Don’t think about him, okay?“|[]
“I wasn’t thinking about anyone.“[]
I teased, pinching his earlobe.
But Gideon sat up. “I didn’t say who, but you said you weren’t thinking about anyone. You were thinking about him, weren’t you?“]
I was speechless.
After all, I was a woman who’d been through marriage.[]
Even though I tried to be carefree, it hadn’t been two weeks since my divorce–it was hard to completely forget Julian’s existence.]
However, just as I was about to apologize, Gideon silenced me with a forceful kiss, leaving me breathless and unable to speak.]
The air filled with intimate atmosphere.]]
Just when I thought everything was resolved, the next morning I opened my eyes to find Gideon gone from beside the bed.]
There was a message from Gideon on my phone.
Chapter 16
Baby, something came up at work. I need to handle it.]
A few minutes later, he added: I’ll be back tonight.[]
Clearly, he was sulking and seeking comfort.[]
I raised an eyebrow but didn’t reply.[]
After getting up, I went to the supermarket to buy ingredients–planning to satisfy this young man’s appetite tonight.[]
That evening, I tied on an apron and cooked dinner in the kitchen.[]
Suddenly, I heard footsteps behind me. Before I could turn around, a man embraced me tightly from behind.[]
Gideon’s stubble brushed against my shoulder.[]
It tickled, so I squirmed and pushed at him. “Alright, go wash your hands. Dinner’s ready.”
But he didn’t move.[]
Still holding me tightly.
Too young, too clingy.
I didn’t push him away, just joked, “We used up all our condoms last night. I forgot to buy more today, so if you want more, you’ll need to get a few boxes.“]
The hands around my waist suddenly tightened.[]
I didn’t notice anything unusual–thinking it was just Gideon being young and unable to handle such teasing.]
But the next second, a heavy door slammed shut behind us.
Gideon’s voice, suppressing anger, instantly rang out-
“What are you two doing?“]
I jumped, looking down at the hands around my waist.
Wrong. There were thin calluses from long–term pen–holding at the tiger’s mouth… and fresh bandages wrapped around the wrists![]
Not Gideon.
Julian…
Realizing this, I quickly pushed him away.
Julian hung his head, his face pale to the point of transparency.[]
During this time, he probably hadn’t rested well. The dark circles under his eyes were heavy, and even his usually pristine appearance looked somewhat disheveled.
Especially his unbuttoned collar.]
Though Julian’s face still held its aristocratic coldness, his wrinkled, messy clothes made him look awkward and inappropriate in every way.[]
