Chapter 6
Ronan parked in front of the villa but couldn’t bring himself to go in.[]
The lights were on inside, just like always. He knew Sherry would have made dinner by:
now and
waiting for him.[]
Even though he’d stood her up so many times, even when he got off work early, Ronan would
sit in
his
car
smoking like this.

He’d rather starve until his stomach hurt, rather wait until dawn than go inside.[]
It was like if he didn’t do this, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from being good to Sherry and smiling at her.
But Sherry was also the killer who’d murdered his mother.[]
It wasn’t until his ninth cigarette burned down to his fingers that Ronan finally exhaled and got out of
the car.
He didn’t take the gifts he’d bought for Sherry and the baby. Instead, he grabbed the pregnancy test results from the passenger seat.[]
Ronan wanted to know how long Sherry was planning to hide her pregnancy.
He opened the front door and immediately smelled something burning. Ronan frowned, and the first thing he saw was a dark and oxidized stain on the floor.[]
He suddenly remembered Sherry bleeding this morning.
But wasn’t that just ketchup?[]
Ronan’s heart pounded as he knelt down shakily and sniffed it. The metallic smell of blood hit him.[]
A terrible feeling grew in his chest. He shouted, panic rising in his voice:
“Sherry, where are you?! I’ll take you to the hospital!“[]
He rushed from room to room, practically tearing the house apart, but still couldn’t find her anywhere.[]
Finally, Ronan noticed the burned–out metal barrel in the center of the yard.
He walked over. There’s only to find a small pile of ashes remained.[]
Among the ashes was a corner of a photo–just half of a girl’s dress.
Ronan’s eyes went wide. It was their first photo together at high school graduation.[]
Realizing what this meant, he ran back to the master bedroom and immediately opened the close– All of Sherry’s clothes were gone.]]
With trembling hands, he opened the safe in the back of the closet.[]
Their photo albums were gone. Only one document remained.[]
He pulled it out. “DIVORCE AGREEMENT” stabbed right through his heart. He flipped to the end in a rush–his own signature was there![]
Sherry had tricked him.]
Rage exploded from his feet up. Ronan’s face went black as he called his secretary. He gritted his teeth as he spat out:[]
“Where the fuck is Sherry?! Tell that bitch to get her ass over here!“]
His forehead veins bulged with anger. But thinking about Sherry being pregnant and possibly hurt, he had to soften his tone.[]
“No, wait. When you find her, get her to the hospital first. Get the best OB–GYN team in the New York!“]
“If anything happens to her or the baby, Ill fucking fire all of your]
The secretary rushed to say ‘yes‘ and hung up. The room fell dead silent again.
Three Bentos, One Divorce–Now You’ll Fay with Your Ladies Regret
Ronan clutched the divorce agreement. The next minutes, he immediately tore it to shreds.
Looking at the scattered pieces, he felt a completed lost in his heart.
Sherry had been so obedient these past few years, he’d almost forgotten what she was like–possessive, with a naturally jealous streak..
He remembered she got mad all day just because he helped a female classmate with her suitcase on their graduation trip,.[]
How could Sherry still want him after he’d slept with so many women, become so dirty?
Ronan felt hollow inside. He desperately threw himself on the bed, wanting to smell her scent one more time.[]
But all he smelled was from the woman he brought home.
Last night’s mess with Natalie–Sherry’s tears and begging–crashed through his mind. Ronan grabbed the bedside lamp and smashed everything to pieces in a rage:]
By dawn, Ronan had collapsed exhausted in the wreckage.
Staring blankly at the house–now stripped of any trace of Sherry, he finally realized what a complete bastard he’d been all these years.
That’s when his phone suddenly rang. Ronan picked it up in a panic, holding his breath as he waited.[]
But his secretary’s voice was shaking on the other end:]]
“Mr. Henstone… I found out Mrs. Henstone bought a plane ticket and just boarded.“]
“And…. sir, Mrs. Henstone went to the hospital three hours ago for an abortion.“]
