Chapter 24
Scarlett paused, recalling what Damian had said during their second meeting.
She mimicked his cold tone: “Are you worthy?”
The other end of the phone was silent for a moment, the air seeming to freeze: “Are you joking?”
Scarlett retorted, “You started it. I’d rather marry a pig than a foul–mouthed, stone–faced man like
Damian gave a cold laugh. “You think I actually want to marry you?“]
With that, he hung up abruptly.
you.”
Scarlett put away her phone and returned to the office. Upon reaching her desk, she found a plane ticket to Boston.
She picked it up and asked a nearby assistant, “Excuse me, whose is this?”
The assistant glanced at it. “Miss Jordan left it for you. Mr. Blackwell is traveling for business tomorrow, and you’re going with
him.”
Scarlett looked silently at Riley’s retreating figure, so different from the fragile woman she’d met in Switzerland three years ago.
She stared at the ticket in her hand, feeling as if the lightweight paper weighed a thousand pounds.
Nathaniel was only taking one person on this business trip.[]
Throughout the journey, Scarlett remained professional, having almost no conversation with Nathaniel outside of work matters.
At the airport, following her work duties, she went to retrieve Nathaniel’s suitcase. Just as she touched it, he also reached out,
Their hands touched, and the cold sensation traveled from Scarlett’s hand straight to her heart.
She pulled back. “I’ll let you take it then, Mr. Blackwell.”
Nathaniel gave her empty hands a cursory glance. “A three–day trip and you didn’t bring any changes of clothes?”
Scarlett shrugged. “Ill buy new ones and throw them away after wearing.”
She didn? know how long she’d remain in this body, so there was no point keeping too many possessions.[]
Besides, she was spending Damian’s money–why should she care?
Nathaniel flexed his wrist, suddenly smiling. “How carefree.”

Ferhaps it was her imagination, but Scarlett felt his smile carried a certain coldness. Before she could react, Nathaniel released the suitcase. “Take it.”
Scarlett was confused. “Didn’t you just say I didn’t need to?”

Nathaniel stared at her silently, his eyes deep and intense. “That was then, this is now.”
Scarlett paused, then almost laughed.]
True to his CEO status–his speech was becoming increasingly authoritative.]
That evening in Boston, Scarlett went to the hotel and discovered Nathaniel’s business contact was none other than renowned designer Tyler York–someone she had always adwared. Her eyes widened as Tyler extended his hand.[]
Scarlett quickly wiped her palms and respectfully shook his hand. “It’s an honor to meet you. I’ve been a fan for so long
Tyler had essentially been her design mentor{}
Tyler paused, then smiled. “No wonder Mr. Blackwell insisted on meeting me despite my multiple refusals. So it was because of you.
Scarlett froze, turning to look at Nathaniel. She caught the smile he hadn’t quite managed to hide, and her heart skipped a beat.)]
Chapter 24
Her admiration for Tyler was something she had only mentioned to Nathaniel once, back in college. She never imagined he would remember.
He was certainly dedicated to this “replacement” role.[]
Scarlett smiled slightly. “Thank you, Mr. Blackwell.“]
Nathaniel’s lips parted, but he said nothing. Then Tyler suddenly spoke up.[]
“Since we’ve met by fate, let’s drink to this connection.“]
Scarlett turned to see Tyler already holding out a glass to her. She hesitated, remembering how alcohol had made her sick when she was ill. Just as she was about to decline, a hand swiftly intercepted the glass.
Nathaniel stepped in front of her, saying calmly, “She gets nauseated when she drinks. I’ll take it instead.”
Scarlett’s hand stiffened. Since her resurrection, she had never told anyone that alcohol made her sick.
