Chapter 8
Antonio stepped backward in astonishment. Then, he threw away all that was in his hands and ran over to take a look. It explicitly said that the man was the present owner.
“Grace sold the house?” Antonio mumbled in disbelief and confusion.
Then, he grabbed the man’s collar and asked, “Where is she? Where is the person who sold the house to you?”
The man revealed a puzzled look. “How would I know?”
Antonio took a few steps back.
Then, he took out his phone and called Grace.
“The number you have dialed is invalid. Please check before calling again…”
Antonio called her again and again, but he heard the same thing.
He stiffened against the pain in his chest, and he felt like he couldn’t breathe. When an unbelievable thought emerged in his mind, he gave an involuntary tremble.
Thus, he called Grace’s parents.
“Jeffrey, Joanna, is Grace at your place?”
Jeffrey Parrish snapped, “You finally asked. But it’s too late!”
“So Grace is with you? I’ll be there soon.” Antonio sounded glad.

But the next second, Joanna Bailey said something that deprived him of all hope.
“She’s not here. We don’t know where she is either.”
His hand holding the phone shivered. “You don’t know that either?” He sounded like he couldn’t believe it. “Didn’t she even tell you?”
“She just said that her marriage was falling apart and that she would move on. Apart from that, we knew nothing,” Joanna responded and hung
- up.
Hearing the beeps, Antonio panicked, his hand dropping.
Then, he began calling others. He was going to ask every one of Grace’s friends. When he and Grace were deeply in love, he saved their contact information to ask about Grace’s preferences. He was glad that he had done that.
With a glimmer of hope, he thought Grace would be at his friend’s place.
But the more calls he made, the more frustrated he got.
“No. Grace didn’t contact me.”
“I don’t know where she’s gone. She didn’t tell me.”

Antonio went through all his contacts but couldn’t find any more people he could ask. In despair, he slumped to the ground.
He thought with rage, “She just vanished. No one knows her whereabouts. Why would she do that to me?”
Then, he turned to the mess beside him and began searching through it
crazily. However, he found Grace had taken away all that was about her.
Antonio felt like what had happened between him and Grace was a dream because he couldn’t find any trace of her.
He slumped to the ground again in an absent mood.
A sharp ringtone pulled him back to his senses.
“What are you doing? Care for a drink?” It was Alden Bradley, Antonio’s
friend.
Antonio snarled, “I’m looking for my wife. She dumped me and disappeared.”
Tears poured down his cheeks.
Seeing him squalling, the people in the house closed the door and didn’t dare to throw away his stuff anymore.
Antonio’s crying was too loud, so Alden took his phone off his ear.
“I can help you look for her. After all, I’m good at finding intelligence.”
“Then thank you. Please find her,” Antonio said in a cracked voice and hung up.
Then, he went to his company in low spirits.
Seeing him, his secretary gave him a package. “Mr. Kaufman, this delivery was sent days ago.”
Antonio said “OK” in confusion.
After the secretary left, he opened the package.

The words “Divorce Agreement” on the cover and his signature on the last page astounded him.
When did he sign it? He never thought about divorcing Grace.
Suddenly, he thought of the insurance contract Grace asked him to sign. days ago.
He was going to take a close look when Natalie’s phone call interrupted
him.
With red–rimmed eyes, he dropped the papers.
Alden was good at his job. It didn’t take him long to find Grace’s phone number.
“This is her new number.”
It was like a lifeline to Antonio, and he dialed the number with
nervousness.
Soon, someone answered, and Antonio was relieved.
