Chapter 10
Before I married Jeff. I was nervous that his family might not accept me.
After all, I grew up without parents and spent an unclear amount of time. staying with the Gorman family.
But surprisingly, the Fabre family welcomed me warmly.
When Jeff’s mother met me for the first time, she looked shocked and said, “So you’re the girl who helped Jeff back then.”
I was completely puzzled by what she meant.
When I looked at Jeff, he hesitated for a moment, then spoke up, “When I was a kid, I was scrawny and often bullied.
“But one day, a brave girl stood up for me and chased away the bullies.”
As soon as he mentioned that, the memory came back to me.
My parents passed away when I was very young. I grew up in an orphanage.
To make ends meet, I collected trash and handed out flyers.
One time, I saw a rich kid constantly getting picked on, so I stepped in and scared off his bullies.
After that, I asked him for one dollar.
I said, “If you ever need help again, I’ll back you up. But it’ll cost you one dollar each time, two dollars if there are lots of people.”
Later, that rich kid transferred schools, and I never saw him again.

I also lost my steady paycheck.
It was a surprise to find out the little boy I protected back then was actually Jeff!
I asked, “Jeff, do you have feelings for me?”
He looked away, a little shy, and said, “Yes. I’ve liked you for a long time.”
I was caught off guard. In my past life, I had seen him a few times, but he never showed any interest in me.
“Why didn’t you say anything back then?” I asked.
He smiled awkwardly.
“By the time I found you again, it looked like you had fallen in love with Philip.
“Philip is my best friend. How could I steal someone he liked?”
So that was the reason.
The next moment, Jeff pulled me into a tight hug.
“Luckily, you still ended up with me in the end…”
I felt safe and warm in his arms, completely at ease.
Thankfully, I didn’t relive the heartbreak I had experienced in my past life.
After we got married, Jeff treated me with so much care.
He brought me along to travel across the country. And somehow, under my influence, the Fabre family’s company, once on the verge of
bankruptcy, made a surprising comeback.

Even better, we landed several major deals within just a few days.
My mother–in–law held my hands in excitement and said, “Tahlia, you really are our family’s lucky star!”
Three days later, I finally heard some news about Philip.
The Gorman family had gone bankrupt.
At the company, a group of shareholders cornered him and beat him up badly.
