Chapter 11
By the time Jeff and I arrived, Philip was being pinned to the ground by a group of furious shareholders.
They were stomping on his face, shouting, “Give us our money! Give it back!”
His once good–looking appearance was now tired and worn out, like he had no strength left in him.
The second he saw me, his lifeless eyes moved.
“Tahlia… you’re finally here…
“Please, help me, I’m begging you!”
Right then, Philip no longer looked like the golden boy from Los Angeles. He looked completely broken.
But when he noticed Jeff enter the office, the tiny spark in his eyes slowly vanished.
“Jeff, did you come to mock me, too?”
Jeff gently shook his head.
“Philip, we’ve known each other for over ten years. Do you really think I’d do something like that?”
Then, he asked the shareholders to step out.
Before he left, he said, “I’m here to take over the Gorman Group.
“Don’t worry. As long as I’m around, your family won’t fall apart.”
I understood that Jeff didn’t have any memories from our past life. He just truly wanted to help his best friend.
But no one realized that this was the final blow for Philip.
He slowly got to his feet, shocked beyond words.
“Isn’t the Fabre family about to go broke? How could he still act like this?”
I stared at Philip without any emotion and remarked, “Yes, the Fabre family is struggling. But don’t you remember? I’m a folk healer. Of course, I have a way to save them from going under.
“That’s exactly what I did for you in our past life.”
Philip stepped back unsteadily, trying to smile.
But that smile looked worse than crying.
“Why…
“Why did I push you away back then?
“If I had married you, none of this would have happened…”
But at this moment, his so–called regret didn’t come from true guilt.
He only felt bad because he had lost his chance to keep his influence and position.
Later, after finishing handling things, Jeff walked into the office and handed me a cup of lemon tea.
“You had a cold a few days ago, right? I heard you coughing. Drink this lemon tea.”
This simple moment, when seen by Philip, made his heart crumble.
“Jeff, do you really see me as your friend?” he asked.
Without thinking too much, Jell nodded.
Then Philip blurted out, “If I still matter to you, then give Tahlia back to
me!”
Jeff gave him a strange look, full of mixed feelings, but finally muttered, “Lunatic.”
After that, he wrapped an arm around my shoulders and walked me out of the room.
He said, “Tahlia, stay away from him from now on.”
Of course, I expected nothing less.
As we got to the elevator, a group of police officers came rushing in.
We asked around to see what was happening.
Turns out, Philip had done something terrible. He had actually buried. Kate alive.
She managed to call the police before she died, but no one came in time.
She passed away in that grave, with their unborn child.
Now the police are preparing to arrest Philip and make him pay for what
he’s done.
But just as the police stormed into the office, I heard a loud bang.
Philip had taken his own life by jumping from the building.
The news spread quickly and shocked the whole city.
In the end, the curse I had made really came true.
The Gorman family was ruined, bankrupt, and shattered.
I stared coldly at Philip’s body lying below. His lips moved slightly, like he was trying to say something to me.
“Sorry.”
Before I could get a better look, someone gently covered my eyes.
“Tahlia, don’t look.
“Let’s leave.”
I took Jeff’s hand and slowly walked in the other direction.
After that day, our home was filled with peace.
And year after year, we lived in quiet happiness.
