Chapter 19
The Reilly family was hit with a series of scandals for many days. It wasn’t just tax evasion–the shareholders embezzled ten billion dollars to travel abroad, leading to months of unpaid wages for employees.
It even brought up a case of an employee jumping off the building five years ago.
The Reilly family is totally screwed this time. Elaine’s father didn’t even have a chance to appeal, he was arrested right in front of the media and the court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
And Elaine didn’t fare much better, she was tied up by several fully armed doctors and taken to a private mental hospital in the suburbs.
At first, she couldn’t accept that she went from being high and mighty Ms. Reilly to a helpless prisoner without even her freedom.
Every time the police officers asked for assembly, she would disobey the orders and not follow the rules.
When I was finally punished with solitary confinement, I still didn’t repent. Every midnight, I would start screaming, “Do you know who my fiance is? When Darren finds out how you treat me, none of you will survive! I’ll make sure you regret it!”
“Hurry up and let me out! When I’m in a better mood, I can overlook the mistakes you’re making now!”
But sometimes she would change clothes and have a pitiful face, curl up on the ground crying her heart out, tightly grabbing the shoes of passersby, and crazily kowtowing and begging
“I know I was wrong.. Can you let me out, I won’t do anything bad again, I just want to be with Darren, I ask for nothing else…”
“I was going to marry Darren…I was going to be with him forever..”
But her crazy appearance didn’t elicit any sympathy, it just made her an easier target for bullying.
Darren even pulled some strings to have the prison guards “take special care” of Elaine in jail
She was often dragged into the confinement room for no reason and brutally beaten up, with not a single piece of good flesh left on her body, all bruised and bloody, looking especially terrifying.
Other mental patients, with the doctor’s permission, started bullying Elaine more and more viciously
Under the torment day after day, Elaine realized she had no chance to go out anymore. She became extremely silent, wouldn’t fight back when bullied, and started staring at the wall, sitting there for hours on end
In the end, she chose a quiet night, smashed the mirror, and used the shands to cut her wrist and commit suicide.
When the prison guards found it, the floor was covered in glaring bloodstains, there was no sign of life long ago.
Darren silently looked through all the photos and videos sent by his assistant, then suddenly chuckled and threw his phone into the sea, just like throwing away that past filled with lies.
Finally, it’s all over
All the love and hate, joy and sorrow, have all disappeared at this moment.

Chapter 20
Darren stood under the plane tree at the entrance of the community, with a cigarette burning between his fingers, and the ashes falling on his leather
shoes.
The address sent by the private detective was right in front of me
Building 7 of Maple Estates, a beige building covered in wisteria vines. The early summer breeze carried the scent of flowers, and in the distance, the sound of children playing and laughing could be heard.
He put out the cigarette, raised his hand to check the time, it was already 6 o’clock in the evening
Isabela usually gets off work and goes home at this time
The heart was pounding violently in the chest, Darren subconsciously straightened his tie, poly to realize he hadn’t even put it on today.
Three days without shaving, wrinkled shirt, if she sees me like this…..
He self–deprecatingly ragged at the corners of his mouth.
Who cares about image anyway?
In her heart, she was already a complete jerk.
The motion sensor light in the corridor suddenly turned on.
Darren suddenly stood up straight
The first thing I saw was a slender wrist–Isabela was holding a reusable bag, chatting and laughing with someone behind her.
She cut her hair short, with the ends playfully curled, and her skin looked like jade against the mint green dress.
Then he saw the clasped hands.
The wrist with distinct knuckles was wearing a familiar watch – Darren recognized in at a glance as a commemorative edition from a medical brand. The owner of the watch had already walked into the light while he was staring
Rhem
The man rolled up the sleeves of his white shirt to his elbows, and naturally took Isabela’s bag with his other hand. Whatever he said made her laugh, tilting her head back and forming crescent moons at the comers of her eyes.
The street light suddenly turned on at that moment
A warm yellow light enveloped them, “Rhett leaned down and Idssed Isabela,” Darren heard the sound of his bones shifting
“Isabela!”
The hoarse roar startled the sparrows in the treetops.
The overlapping figures suddenly separated, and when Isabela turned around, Darren was already in front of her.
He rightly gripped her wrist, with such force that it almost felt like he was going to crush her bones.
“Darren?!” Her pops contracted, the mint green skirt Buttering in the night breeze.
Rhett immediately shielded her, but Darren punched him in the face.
“Get lost!” Darren grabbed Rhett’s collar, his eyes bloodshot and fierce, “Who do you think you are? You dare to touch her?!
Isabela suddenly pushed him away fiercely
“You can go to hell!” she stood in front of Rhett, like an angry cat. Under the streetlight, Darren finally saw the diamond ring on her ring finger, the ring gleaming with a cold silver light.
The world was spinning.
What are you doing here?” Isabela’s voice trembled, not out of fear, but out of anger.
Darren opened his mouth, only to find that all his prepared words suddenly fell apart.
he reached out to touch her, but was stopped by Rhett.
The doctor’s mouth was bleeding, but i
but his eyes were calm. “Mr. Cressey, please behave yourself.”

This sentence totally lit a fire under Darren.
“Self–respect?” He sneered and pulled open his s collar, revealing a sinister scar on his collarbone. “Where were you when she carried me to the hospital in the rain? Who was the one protecting her when she was threatened by business rivals?!”
Isabela suddenly laughed.
“It was you who pushed me towards those threats,” she whispered. “Darren, have you forgotten? The day Elaine made me kneel, it was you who set the rule with your own hands.”
The night breeze, carrying the scent of locust flowers, brushed past. Darren’s hand froze in midair.
Rhett wiped the blood off the comer of his mouth with his thumb and pulled out his phone from his pocket, “Do you need me to
Ime to call the police?”
The screen showed “recording“, and the progress bar had been running for seventeen minutes – it started from the moment Darren got started
“Are you threatening me?” Darren squinted his eyes.
“It’s a warning,”
“Rhett stood in front of Isabela, “Your actions have already constituted a crime of intentional harm, I’m just protecting her.”
“Enough” Isabela grabbed Rhett’s hand. “Let’s go home.
The moment she turned around, Darren suddenly grabbed her skirt.
“Bella…” he knelt on the asphalt road, his voice broken and fragmented, “I was wrong. I really..”
Isabela didn’t look back
When the hers of the skirt slipped through his fingers, Darren heard the gentles: death sentence in the world.
“Mr. Cressey,
If only you had known earlier, why did you have to do that in the first place?”
