Chapter 7
Amid the marmurs and chatter, Dominic turned to Beatrice and said with heartfelt emotion,
“Beatrice, these past years, we’ve worked together, struggled together, weathered countless struggling side by side.”
“Somewhere along the way, I found myself drawn to you.”
“In the past, I couldn’t give you a title because of Simone and my son.
“I’ve always felt guilty about that.”
“But things are different now.”
“My son is gone, and there’s no future between me and Simone.”

As he finished, Dominic dropped to one knee and proposed to Beatrice in front of everyone.
The guests and dignitaries erupted in encouragement:
“Miss Pembroke, say yes! One nod and you’ll become the wife of the richest man in Hello city!”
You and Mr. Carter were meant for each other. This is just fate bringing soulmates together!”
“Say yes! Say yes!”
Even Alice couldn’t help but grasp Beatrice’s hand, beaming with affection
“Beatrice, to tell you the truth, I liked you from the very first time I saw you.”
“Now that you’re carrying the Carter family’s only child, don’t you see? This is destiny.”
“Don’t hesitate any longer–say yes to my son. I’ve already decided, the title of Mrs. Carter belongs to you.”
The same Alice who used to look down on me with disdain now treated Beatrice like a priceless treasure
Even her eyes sparkled with joy as she spoke.
Beatrice gave a shy smile. “I’d love to say yes…”
“But.”
She trailed off and glanced cautiously in my direction, pretending to be unsure.
At once, Dominic understood. He called for the divorce agreement I had already.
He signed his name in front of everyone and then tossed the papers in my face
“Simone,” he said coldly, “as of now, we’re finished”
“From this moment on, Beatrice is the only Mrs. Carter. You’d better not get any ideas. ”
“Otherwise, don’t blame me for showing no mercy.”
Looking at Dominic’s harsh and threatening expression, I couldn’t help but recall how he had once proposed to me–his face earnest, his voice full of promise. He’d vowed to love and protect me for the rest of my life, never letting anyone hurt me.
Twenty years later, Dominic was still the kind of man who would go all in for love,
Only now, that love wasn’t for me.
I looked at him calmly and said coldly, “Dominic, I hope you won’t regret this.”
Dominic gave a mocking laugh. “Regret?”
“Staying with a woman like you, someone who doesn’t belong in high society–that’s what I would’ve regretted!”
Its words were quickly echoed by the other elites in the room:
“This woman really thinks too much of herself. Why would anyone regret divorcing someone like her?”

“Exactly. A woman with no power, no status–what good is she besides talking big?”
“She spent over a decade as Mrs. Carter. That’s already a miracle. If she had any brains, she’d be begging Mr. and Mrs. Carter for a scrap of kindness.”
“Without Mr. Carter, she’ll probably spend the rest of her life begging on the streets,”
In the midst of their sneering ridicule, Beatrice’s lips curled in triumph, as if she had already won.
Just then, a bodyguard suddenly rushed into the banquet hall, stumbling as he announced breathlessly, “Mr. Carter–Mr. Fitzroy from Slivershade is
“He said he’s brought you a very special gift!”
