Chapter 6
Savannah dreamed.
In her dream, Grayson was fourteen again–his school uniform rumpled, a bruise blooming across his cheekbone, but his smile was wide and reckless.
She was crying as she dabbed ointment on his side.
“Are you insane? Telding on thirty guys alone? What are you, Superman?”
He simply shrugged, unbothered.
“They tried to steal from you. That’s reason enough.”
Then he looked u
up, eyes burning with fierce conviction.
“As long as I’m around, you’re not allowed to get hurt. Not even a scrabel”
Savannah wept in the dream. She reached for him.
“Grayson…”
But he didn’t hear her. He turned and allood away, hand–in–hand with her younger sell.
The scene snapped.
Now: Claire blanding, Grayson cradling her in his arms, shouting for help, while Savannah watched through a haze of red
She jolted awake, breath catching. Her pillow was damp with tears.
Then she heard them.
Claire, sobbing into Grayson’s chest,
“It’s all my fault.. I shouldn’t have touched the rope… If I hadn’t, Savannah wouldn’t be hurt… Just.. punish me or something.”
Grayson chuckled softly as he wiped her tears.
“Punish you?”
“Yeah if you don’t, I won’t be able to sleep tonight
“Then say it,” be teased, tilting her face
“Say what..
“Say you are mine.”
Claire trose, then whispered, checks flaming. “I’m yours..”
He ruffled her hair, voice thick with fondness: *Since you’re mine, you’ll do as I say. I’ll handle this. Don’t worry about it.”
Claire nodded and quietly slipped out.
Savannah had seen it all.
Her hand trembled, knocking over the glass of water on her nightstand,
Grayson turned sharply.
He rushed to her side, grippling her hand, eyes filled with guilt,
“You’re awake.. Are you in pain? I’m sorry. It was chaos. I grabbed the wrong person
She looked at him but said nothing
“Where’s Clare?”
He stiffened slightly, misunderstanding her intent.
“She didn’t mean to… but it was her fault. I already gave her a serious punishment.”
Savannah’s lips curved faintly.

A “panishment“, huh?
Like saying she was yours?
Yeah. That’s a real harsh.
She didn’t argue. Didn’t cry. Didn’t scream,
She just said, quietly: “I’m hungry.”
Grayson blinked.
He stared at her, the alarm growing behind his eyes.
Something was.. off
Too calm.
Calm…like a stagnant pool of water. “I’ll go get you something,” he said at last, flustered. “I’ll get you something right now. Just wait for a while.”
He grabbed his keys and hurried out.
The door clicked shut behind him.
And that’s when Savannah finally broke
Tears fell like tain—but only for a second
She immediately raised her hand to wipe them away.
The sun filtered through the hospital window, harsh and white
But it didn’t reach her beart
orage, you must still love
Because to rag
To scream, you must still care.
And she?
She had neither love, nor hate left for Grayson Whitmore.
