Chapter 16
Grayson stood in front of the villa where he and Savannah once lived. His bloodshot eyes stared blankly at the surveillance footage he had watched a
hundred times over
But every trace had been wiped clean–Savannah had erased all the recordings. There wasn’t a single clue left behind.
“Keep looking,” he rasped. “I don’t care what methods you take. Find her.”
Daniel handed over a new report with trembling hands. “Sir.. Miss Reed’s identity records have been officially deleted. Her travel logs–both domestic and international–are gone.”
Grayson’s fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.
He was losing his mind, pulling every string, throwing money like wildfire. But Savannah had vanished, like a ghost swallowed by the earth.
He visited every place they had once been
Their old high school. The amusement park. The hilltop chapel. Even the city where she had once studied abroad. Every time–empty.
Then came the dreams
Savannah standing in a pool of blood, looking at him collly.
“You’re the one who sent me to hell, Grayson Whitmore.
He would bolt awake drenched in sweat, a gaping ache carved into his chist
He stopped showing up at Whitmore Group. Hopped planes on a whim, chasing shadows from country to country, city to city.
Three months later, he stood before a luxury bridal boutique on Avenue Montagne. His gaze was empty as it lingered on the wedding dress in the window.
Savannah once told him; no lace, no diamonds. Just a clean white dress is enough–simple, pure,
He let out a bitter laugh.
That dream had evaporated like soap bubbles. He didn’t even know where she was anymore.
Then just for a second–his eyes caught a familiar silhouette
Long dark hair. A slim back. The way she walked–It was her. It had to be.
His heart stopped. He sprinted.
“Savannah!”
The woman didn’t turn around. She just kept walking
He quickened his pace, hand outstretched to grab her wrist-

But just then, a sleek black sedan pulled up. A man in a sharp tailored suit stepped out, took her bag, and whispered something at her ear. She laughed, her face tilting slightly.
He saw her profile.
A stranger
Grayson stopped in his tracks, frozen
Not her.
Just someone who looked like her.
His arm dropped to his side. His throat tightened.
His phone rang. Daniel’s cautious voice came through. “Sir.. the dinner’s about to begin. Should I-
Grayson closed his eyes. Hung up. Walked away.
But at that exact moment, across the street inside a quiet café, Savannah slowly lowered her cup. Her gaze swept calmly over his retreating back
Julian followed her eyes. “Was that him?”
She gave a faint god.

Then rose to her feet and slipped her arm through Julian’s.
“Let’s go. It’s time to the dinner.”
Inside the hall, Savannah adjusted the diamond studs in her ears, lips curving in a subtle, unreadable smile
“Grayson Whitmore will be attending tonight’s event too,” Julian said, handing her a glass of champagne. “Your eyes were following him earlier. Don’t
tell me he’s the reason you came”
Savannah took the glass, tapping the rim lightly with a fingertip. A soft chime rang out.
“You think too much.”
At the dinner, chandeliers scattered diamonds of light across the polished marble
Savannah moved through the crowed effortlessly, champagne in hand, engaged in fluent French with representatives from several European investment firms. Her sharp insight and confident poise made her the center of the room.
Grayson stepped into the hall just as her back came into view. Her gestures–the graceful precision of them–struck a chord in his memory.
He narrowed his eyes, about to step closer
But she turned at that moment, brushing past him without a glance.
A faint whiff of rose lingered in the air.
Grayson’s head snapped around. But she was already gone in the crowd.
He flagged down a waiter. “That woman who just walked past me–who is she?
The waiter smiled politely. “That’s Ms. Lin. She’s the founder of the new investment firm S&FL”
Grayson’s pupils contracted.
“S…” he whispered
Savannah Reed
It had to be her. Or at least… he prayed it was
