Chapter 24
Carissa was getting ready to go eat barbecue with Melvin.
I looked up and saw Warren.
In just a few days of not seeing each other, he had become much haggard, with a pale complexion and bloodshot eyes.
He handed her a few sheets of paper and said, “Madilyn has already signed the divorce agreement and will be able to get the divorce certificate in less than a month. Carle, I have no relationship with Madilyn anymore. Can you come back with me now?”
To this day, Warren still naively believes that Carlssa left because he and Madilyn got married.
So he used up almost all of his savings to help Madilyn repay the Swanson family’s money and make her agree to divorce him.
Just as he received the divorce agreement, he couldn’t wait to come and find Carissa, hoping that she would change her mind.
However, Carissa furrowed her brow and took a step back.
“Warren, I have made it very clear, I didn’t love you anymore, we broke up. Whether you divorce Madilyn or not, I won’t reconcile with you anymore. Do you understand?”
Pausing for a moment, she glanced sideways at Melvin and took his hand initiative.
“And, I now have a new life and someone 1 love. Please don’t disturb me anymore in the future.”
Warren stood still, looked at Carissa, then looked at Melvin beside her, and pondered for a while as if he only understood her meaning.
His mouth corner forced up a touch of embarrassing smile.
“Don’t play this kind of joke on me. You love me so much, how could you easily fall in love with someone else? Carie, don’t be angry with me anymore, let’s make up….
In the end, his voice even took on a hint of sobbing, and his eyes were filled with humility and pleading.
Carissa sighed helplessly.
She couldn’t understand why Warren was so persistent.
Because I loved her.
But if he truly loved her, then why did he do those things with Madilyn?
Carissa couldn’t come up with an answer and had no interest in thinking about it anymore.
“Warren, stop deceiving yourself. You know, things that I have made up my mind about, never change. I used to like you, so I loved you wholeheartedly. But now, I no longer love you, and nothing you do will change that.”
As soon as the words fell, Warren’s face instantly turned pale, and he seemed to have lost his soul, leaving only an empty shell.
Carissa ignored him and led Melvin away.
Until she could no longer see Warren’s figure, she wanted to let go of Melvin, but the man tightly held onto her hand.
“Carie, were the things you just said true?”
Carissa paused for a moment, then realized.
As she watched Melvin’s reddened ear tips, a thought crossed her mind and she furrowed her brow, pretending to be puzzled.
“What? I don’t remember,”
Melvin’s heart suddenly panicked
“Just now, you were clearly holding my hand and saying that you liked someone, Carie, don’t lie to me…”
Perhaps due to his overwhelming emotions, Melvin’s voice trembled slightly.
But his gaze never wavered as he stared intently at the girl be loved.
Carissa could sense how nervous and flustered the usually calm and composed man was at this very moment.
She smiled and shook the hands of the two people tightly holding each other.
