Chapter 10%
Third Person’s POV
However, Ellery’s fan group launched a full–on attack against a commenter who tried to speak up for Dennise.
But the next second, every single one of those foul–mouthed fans received a court summons.
They were stunned, never expecting that a few hateful online comments would land them in legal trouble.
Panic spread. Many rushed to issue public apologies on social media, hoping to lessen the consequences. But Denisse’s company’s legal team didn’t let a single one of them off the hook.”
When Wren got his test results back, the truth hit him like a truck.
He finally realized just how terribly wrong he had been.
He had thrown away the woman who loved him with everything she had just for a woman who slept around with anyone who gave her attention.
He then had someone look into Ellery’s past and soon discovered that her whole “independent, strong woman” image was a complete lie.
The truth was, her dating history was a mess. She’d never stayed with any man for more than a week. No one even knew who the father of
her child was.
And him? He’d been the biggest fool of all, raising someone else’s child like it was his own.
But instead of forcing her to get an abortion, he made a darker choice. He decided to let her live with the burden of that child’s fate for the rest of her life.
Everything Ellery had dreamed of–wealth, power, status–vanished overnight.”
That alone would’ve be
been enough.
But it didn’t end there. She was also kept under watch, unable to live or die on her own terms.
She was even forced to dig through a landfill, searching for Denisese’s gold necklace.
But it had been weeks. There was no way it could still be found.
But that wasn’t the point. Wren just wanted to punish her.
He shoved her down into the trash heap and barked, “This is all your fault! If you hadn’t lost her necklace, she wouldn’t have divorced me! If you can’t find it, you can rot right here with the garbage!”
Ellery cried and begged, but it didn’t matter. Wren was done showing mercy.}
But even with revenge, he was a broken man.
He had lost the woman who once loved him like her life depended on it, and the son he’d been waiting for turned out not to be his.
Worse, the proud company that bore his name had collapsed, leaving him drowning in debt.
Every day, workers hounded him for unpaid wages. As such, he had nowhere to go.
Denisse’s POV
One day, Wren showed up outside my office building, waiting in the cold.
Who would’ve thought that the once high–and–mighty golden boy would be reduced to a disheveled man who looked more like a beggar?}
He dropped to his knees at my feet and apologized, “Denisse… I was wrong. I never should’ve doubted you. I was stupid to believe anyone else. I swear, I won’t ever pressure you to have a child again. We can just live a quiet life together, just the two of us.“}
I almost laughed out loud.
Now that he couldn’t have children, suddenly he was all about being “understanding.”
But back when he thought I couldn’t have children, I was worthless.
I took off my sunglasses and mocked him, “Mr. Wintringham, you had your chance to start a family. Why come crawling to fairytale ‘two–person life‘? Don’t force yourself on my account.”

Stan, who was standing beside me, added dryly, “He’s not here for love. He’s here because his baby dreams went down the drain, and now he wants to mooch off your success, Miss.“}
I chuckled. “In broad daylight, and this man’s still dreaming?“}
Afterward, I turned my gaze away.
People like Wren were not worth another second of my life.
“Let’s
go” said to Stan.”
The car rolled forward, cold and unbothered, past the man crawling behind it.”
Wren stumbled after us, shouting, “Denisse, you can’t just leave me like this–Ah!”
Suddenly, a sharp scream tore through the air, followed by the heavy sound of someone collapsing onto the pavement.
Stan glanced at me, concerned. “Miss, should we stop the car?”
I looked out the window, then shook my head slowly. “No need.“}
What was done was done. That part of my life was over. It had nothing to do with me anymore.
Later I saw the news that Ellery had gone insane. She’d lost her mind while living in that garbage dump. When she finally escaped and
