Chapter 219
Brad POV
Summer McKeever.
Her name rolled on my tongue like sin as I pulled up the list of entries for Luna trials on my lane she was twenty, a few months younger than me, and
there was no mention of her arrival. The only indication was that of an assistant accompanying Laura, which my father allowed because he wasn’t sure how to have a human in a werewolf pack. He must have thought that the girl would be overwhelmed and so he must have allowed the assistant. But who knew that it would be none other than Summer.
However, when Laura introduced Summer as her maid, I wanted to rip her apart. My wolf who was already on the edge was excited. He was pacing within the confines of my mind, trying to take charge and be with Summer. Hell, even I wanted to be with her. After so many years of relentless search, here she was, right in front of me. I wanted to slide one hand through her thick silky hair and another around her waist. I wanted to pull her in for a kiss and never stop.
In the morning when my wolf approached the gate of the resort, Blaze froze. Summer’s unmistakable scent was in the air. At first, he thought that he was imagining or perhaps had gone mad, but then he sniffed the air again, and the scent was still there. I could smell her from miles away.
But what baffled me was that she had forgotten me completely. When I stood there in front of her, anger slammed in my chest for not recognizing me. But shock rippled through me when she responded to me in a way that I couldn’t smell any lie. She actually didn’t remember me. My mind raced to every detail, every second of my time spent with her.
She was delirious most of the time because they had drugged her. Whenever she would wake up, she was not in her senses. Nightmares riddled her sleep. I couldn’t imagine the trauma she had undergone. And then she ran away. Without informing us. In the middle of the night. There was a time when I thought she was running from law, but that didn’t make sense. She was just too timid to commit any felony.
I had searched if she had any social profiles. She didn’t have any. It was like she was living off the grid. Trying to hide herself in this world. But as fate would have it, she was once again brought into my life. And this time I wouldn’t let her go. I needed to know more about her. How was she a maid to the Morelli family? Where was her father who I had seen in the cabin that first day? Everything about her was a mystery. And I wanted to unravel it.
I closed the laptop, tamping my wolf down who wanted to go to her. He was clawing at me on the inside to be with his mate
Yes, Summer was my mate. It took me long to realize it, but there was nothing I could associate this feeling with. It was a tug at the core of my heart, this invisible thread that connected me with her. I knew she couldn’t feel it because she was a human. But I could. And very strongly. Like she was imprinted on my heart and soul.
Sitting in my penthouse which was on the tenth floor of the resort, all I wanted was to take the elevator and go down to the third floor.
‘Protect her,‘ my wolf urged.
Father had announced the Luna trials, and all the Alpha and Luna candidates were already here. I felt like abolishing the fucking trials, but it would mean harm to my father’s reputation. Besides, had he not announced the trials, I wouldn’t have found Summer.
I had to get Summer out of the trials to keep her safe, to keep her away from every fucking Alpha. Then I would take part in the trials, and reject every girl. Summer was a complication I didn’t see happening.
‘She’s mine,’ my wolf growled. ‘I won’t let her go
now!
‘Yes, she’s ours.‘
The moment I saw her, I asked my IT head, Noris, to find out more about her. He had gone in a frenzy to dig out every information about her. A soft ping on my laptop sounded. I opened my inbox only to see that he had sent the report. That was fast, and that was why I liked him so much. Noris had done his computer science from Ivy League college and I had pushed my father to make him IT chief. He was the great–grandson of Elder Ryna.
I clicked on the file and saw a photo of hers in a restaurant. She was skinny and pale. My wolf gnawed at me inside. ‘Feed her.‘
Her green eyes with pupils blown wide were staring at me from the photo. My mind was filled with trashy images of her. Of how she stared at me while she begged… I shook my head dispelling those images. She was perfect. The most gorgeous girl to ever live. And she looked like a deer caught in the

Now that she was here, I had to do everything I had in my power to protect her. The first thing I did was to call Tammy, When she came inside wa already pacing my room.
“Brad!” she breathed. “I smelled Summer. Is it true–7”
“Yes!” I halted in my tracks. “She’s here, Tammy.”
Tammy slapped her hand on her mouth. “As a human candidate?”
I shook my head as I stabbed my fingers in my hair. “No!” I gritted. “That’s the complication. She is here as Laura’s maid, and Laura is the human candidate.”
Tammy’s eyes widened in shock. “Maid?”
A snarl left my lips. “I want to pluck her away from Laura, take her out of the resort and keep her safe until the Luna trials are over!”
Tammy sat on the couch as she stared at me. “I don’t know what to do…” she murmured. “If we jeopardy.”
My control was slipping by the second. “Never!” I growled at her. “I’ll protect her with my life!”
her away from Laura, her life could be in real
“Not that silly!” Tammy snapped. “She will be protected by all of us in this world. But what about when she goes to the human world? Morelli is a mafia boss. He would make sure that she is killed.”
My claws extended and I felt like ripping Morelli into pieces. “I’ll kill him before he even thinks of harming Summer’s hair.”
Just then the door opened and to my utter surprise father walked in. I cocked an eyebrow to Tamara, and she shrugged. I guess she conveyed it all to Alpha Lucien through mind link.
“She is here?” father asked, completely bewildered.
“Yes!” I breathed.
“We should stop the Luna trials,” Tamara suggested.
“No, we can’t do that!” Father replied, appearing irritated. “We are deep into this, so we can’t.”
I was getting restless. My arm rippled with fur as Blaze surged ahead to take control. He was a dangerous, feral bo one of the most powerful. Perhaps
the most powerful. I couldn’t resist him and headed to the door to see my mate.
“Brad, stay,” Father ordered like I was an errant pup, and not the future Alpha. I had to obey his order as he rolled
an alpha command over me. I could’ve fought his Alpha’s order, but I willed Blaze to stop resisting. I wanted to see her so badly, and spend every minute of the day with her. I was going to learn everything I could about her. Starting with a sizzling kiss.
“Wait Brad,” Father said again. “This is important.”
Tammy gave us a curious look, wondering what my father would say.
Father remained silent for a few seconds before he sensed that Blaze had gone down. I wanted this meeting with my father to end quickl
“Brad, before I came here, I asked Noris to send me a report about her. But I guess you had already asked him,” he said, walking to the couch where Tammy was. I read the report, and I came to know one thing. She is weak. Broken.”
Fury slams my heart and I snarl. How dare he insult her? He had no right to do so. My wolf let out an animalistic growl in a warning,
“Let me explain, Brad,” he demanded.
