Chapter 5
The club manager immediately signaled for someone to bring the card reader.[]
Everyone stared at me in confusion, wondering where the hell I’d get money from.
A few n

After I punched in the numbers, that cold robotic voice announced: “Transaction declined. This card has been frozen.”
People immediately started snickering.
Camille was practically cackling: “Did you seriously think Alaric was bluffing? He literally just froze all your accounts and you still tried to use a card?”
“Talk about embarrassing yourself! Could you possibly look more pathetic right now?
Aurora put on this fake sympathetic act[]
“Mrs. Marchand, men really don’t like women who are too aggressive. Maybe if you just apologize to Mr. Marchand, he’ll forgive you!“]
Anyone with half a brain could see that Alaric was waiting for me to grovel

The room absolutely exploded
“Holy shit, the bank president personally handled that? That’s some serious VIP treatment!
“I heard you need like fifty million in assets minimum to get that kind of service
“And he was so respectful–Isolde must be one of their biggest clients!–]

I looked at her with pure contempt.[]
“Since when do you have to graduate before you can make money? Just because you’re broke doesn’t mean everyone else is. Why would I explain anything to someone like you?”
Camille was so pissed she was shaking. “You you.”
Aurora was doing her wide–eyed innocent act again
“Mrs. Marchand, you didn’t… secretly steal money from Mr. Marchand’s family, did y

“You think I’m what’s keeping you from landing a Marchand? Wake up call–it’s actually your own fucking lack of worth![]
“Even if I stepped aside tomorrow, you still wouldn’t be worth shit to take my place!–]]
1 grabbed my purse and stormed toward the exit.
Alaric’s voice cut through the room: “Don’t you dare walk out that door!”
“If you leave right now, we’re getting divorced?
