Chapter 8
Kerian’s pupils contracted as he instinctively reached for her. “Vic, I-”
“KERIAN
The hospital room door slammed open and Sophia came charging in, eyes all red and puffy, throwing herself onto Kerian while her hands frantically roamed over his body.
“Oh my God, are you okay? Does it hurt? You scared the shit out of me…“]
Victoria stood up and walked out without looking back.
She’d barely made it down the hallway when she heard rapid footsteps behind her.
Victoria!” Sophia blocked her path, eyes ice–cold. “You must be feeling pretty smug right now, huh? He almost died saving your soITY
Victoria rubbed her temples tiredly: “I already told you I don’t want him anymore. Stop harassing me
She turned to leave, but Sophia let out this cold laugh and clapped her hands.
Two massive guys stepped out of the shadows and grabbed Victoria’s arms!||
“What the hell?!” Victoria struggled, but they had her locked down tight.
Sophia got right up in her face, every word dripping with venom: “You think you can just say I don’t want him and that’s it? His heart’s still with you… As long as you’re around, he’ll never give me what I deserve.”
She patted Victoria’s cheek with this twisted smile: “So I’m gonna have to make you disappear.
Victoria went cold all over. “You’re completely insane!“]
“Yeah, I fucking am!” Sophia suddenly grabbed Victoria’s chin, her expression totally twisted Tve loved him for years–what makes you so goddamn special?! This is all your fault for making me desperate!
She stepped back and nodded at the two men.[]
Before Victoria could even scream, something hit the back of her neck hard []
Everything went black
When Victoria came to, freezing wind was cutting into her face like knives.
She forced her eyes open and realized she and Sophia were both tied up at the edge of a cliff, bombs strapped to their bodies with timers counting down fast.
“Are you out of your fucking mind? Victoria’s voice was hoarse. “You’re gonna blow us both to hell?!”
Sophia’s pale face lit up with
this cr
crazy grin: “This is the only way to
him choose.”
Right on cue, they heard frantic footsteps approaching
“Vic! Sophia!
Kerian appeared at the cliff’s edge, his face white as a sheet, his eyes bouncing frantically between the two of them.]
When he saw the bombs, the color drained from his face completely.
“Kerian! Help me!” Sophia immediately started sobbing. The bomb’s gonna go off I’m so scared.
Kerlan’s hands were shaking as he checked the timer.
Ninety seconds.
“Vic, hang on…” His voice cracked. “Till get Sophia’s bomb off first, then I’ll come get you!
Victoria watched him run toward Sophia, feeling like her chest was caving in
Save Sophia first, then her? There was no way in hell he’d have enough time!
Did Kerian seriously not get that?]
Or maybe… he just didn’t give a shit if she lived or died?
Victoria gritted her teeth and stopped counting on him, fighting against the ropes with everything she had.
The rough rope cut deep into her skin, blood trickling down her wrists, but she couldn’t feel the pain–just kept working at the knots.
Nearby, Kerlan had already freed Sophia and was carrying her to safety.
“Kerian! Victoria’s still over there!” Sophia clutched his shirt, her voice shaking.
Kerian set her down in the safe zone and spun around to run back-
“BOOM!!!”
The explosion was absolutely massive, a fireball shooting into the sky!”
Kenan’s face went white with terror as he charged toward the smoke and flames:
“VICTORIA!!!
Through the thick smoke, Victoria was sprawled on the ground, blood everywhere, barely hanging on.
She’d managed to defuse the bomb with seconds to spare, but the shockwave had still thrown her like a ragdoll, knocking her completely unconscious
