Chapter 10
When Mother was still with us, she’d always worry about me, urging me not to shut myself away at the Acrea estate. She tirelessly encouraged me
to get out more.
But Adam was always so busy.
I couldn’t bear to leave him, nor could I neglect Mother,
I
In those days of meticulously managing the Acrea household as Mrs. Acrea, I’d long abandoned my childhood dreams.
Yet now, Mason actually remembered that old wish of mine.
My long–dormant heart suddenly stirred.
I reached out and grasped his hand. “Thank you.
“Thank you for being my anchor.”
Mason ruffled my hair. “I promised you years ago. I came too late–let you. endure so much hardship.”

But I never imagined Adam would tag along honeymoon.
Every time, he held a bouquet of roses with the stamens specially cut off,
waiting on my way back to the hotel with exquisite gifts.
When he saw me, his eyes always reddened first.
“Hannah, I was wrong, can you come back to me?”
Chapter 10
“I’ve really missed you during this time without you by my side.”
“Hannah, I promise I’ll never do anything to hurt you like that again. I’ve. already driven Abigail and Layla away. Please come back to me, I can’t live without you!”
I scoffed, walked up to him, leaned close to his ear, and whispered softly. “Do you know what my mother said to me before she died?”
“She said she would no longer be a burden to me, she wanted me to leave. you and pursue my own happiness.”
“Adam, from the moment you fell in love with those kept women, I stopped loving you.”
“The only reason I reluctantly stayed by your side was for my mother to live well.”
“You killed my mother, you pushed me away with your own hands.”
“My room, our child, my dog–everything I cared about. You destroyed it all for Abigail and Layla. Did you really think I’d come back to you?”
Adam’s face turned paper–white as he shook his head frantically. “No, I never meant to get Mom killed!”
Eyes blazing red, I screamed at him, “Don’t you dare call her ‘Mom“!”
I yanked up my sleeve, revealing a twisted scar.
“If my mother knew I married a beast who nearly got me killed, she’d hunt you down from her grave.
Adam couldn’t meet my scarred skin, stumbling backward. “I’m sorry–I ordered the bodyguards to save you.”

Chapter 10
“I never thought you’d get hurt.”
My lips curled bitterly. “Adam, ‘sorry‘ means nothing. I’ll make you pay for every wound you gave me.”
After that day, Adam never dared speak to me again–just trailed silently. behind Mason and me, day after day.
Mason sometimes couldn’t stand it and had his bodyguards teach him a
lesson.
But Adam seemed like a lost soul, letting fists land on him without resistance.
Then he stumbled toward me, asking, “Hannah, does seeing me like this make you feel better?”
I took Mason’s hand and walked away without bothering to respond.
After the honeymoon, I officially became Marketing Director of the Harlan Group
My sole purpose was relentlessly seizing the Acrea Group’s market share nationwide.
I snatched every project Adam touched.
Within three months, I’d stolen dozens of deals from the Acrea Group.
Meanwhile, Adam was kept busy by Abigail and Layla, completely neglecting company affairs.
The Acrea Group’s financial situation deteriorated daily.
Howard and Maria Acrea couldn’t take it anymore and came to the Harlan Group to find me.
The two who once held themselves loftily before me now groveled.
“Hannah, we were family once.”
“Adam just made a mistake any man could make. He truly loves you. Please ease up on the Acrea Group and stop suppressing us.”
