Chapter 202
“Relax. He never loved me. He’ll give up soon enough.” I said.
Ferris’s pursuit? Just stubbornness, I figured.
I’d left him a pile of money to pay him back.
Cynthia stared at the ceiling, then asked, “You gonna marry Adrian?”
1 froze.
Years with Ferris had drained all hope for love. Adrian was kind, even loving, ut my heart was too broken to love fully. Dennis picked up on Ferris’s bad mood but didn’t back down, his tone tinged with provocation.
“She was supposed to be my wife.”
Ferris’s Adam’s apple bobbed. If the man in front of him weren’t his brother, he might’ve killed him.
“I don’t care what happened between you. I’m her husband now.”
Ferris stood. “You just woke up–shouldn’t you rest?”
“Don’t end up comatose again.”
Cold words dropped, and Ferris strode out.
As he left Dennis’s room, Victoria hurried over. “Doctors say Dennis is a miracle. He’ll be walking again soon, I’m sure.
Ferris had no warmth to spare, his whole vibe icy.
“T’d rather he never stands up.”
He left, ignoring Victoria’s shocked stare.
Ferris drove back to the villa, his head swimming with mine and Dennis’s voices.
“I mixed up the person.”
“She likes me. She wanted to marry me.”
His head throbbed. Sleepless nights were catching up, but he refused to sleep
Finally, the villa came into view.
Ferris grabbed a bottle of wine, sank into the couch alone, and listened to the wind howl outside, replaying everything since our engagement.
After he’d shut me out, even snapped at me, I’d said, “You feel different.”
Turns out, he hadn’t changed.
He’d never been the one she wanted.
Ferris poured a glass, downed it.
Glass after glass, till the bottle ran dry. His head screamed, worse than before.
Leaning into the couch, he mumbled, “You lied to me.”
Maybe it was the alcohol–he finally drifted off.
Meanwhile, Cynthia already knew where I was heading. She bought a ticket, set to meet me there.
Before dawn the next day, Cynthia got in the car, bound for the airport.
The bodyguard tailing her called Ferris.
Ferris answered, fighting dizziness. “What?”
“She’s at the airport.”

Ferris sat up on the couch.
“Follow her. Find out where she’s going.”
“Yes, sir.”
He hung up, grabbed his coat, and rushed out.
A few hours of sleep had cleared his head a little..
Malski Harbor, where I was, was still seven or eight hours away.
Eight hours later.
Time zones meant Cynthia landed in Malski at night.
I’d been waiting, spotted her familiar figure, and walked over.
“Cynthia.”
Relief flickered in her eyes when she saw me.
“C’mon. Let’s go home.”
Back at the house, the nanny was prepping dinner.
On the living room TV, a news anchor ranted: “After renowned medic Ashley’s scandal, Vargan Group stocks keep crashing. No word yet from Silver Moon Pack Alpha Ferris.”
The door opened. The nanny turned off the TV and hurried to greet us.
Cynthia glanced around, a mix of familiarity and comfort washing over her–good

After dinner and some rest.
Night fell.
Cynthia and I shared a bed.
“Staying here for good?” she asked.
“For now.” I paused, explaining. “Adrian wants me to go back to Black Mountain Pack, but he’s swamped with enemies. I figured I’d settle here for a bit.”
“Plus, the climate’s good for Linus’s recovery.”
Adrian had arranged top medical care for Linus, even 24/7 nurses. It took a load off my mind.
“But what if Ferris finds you?”
“I don’t know.”

“Take your time. No rush.” Cynthia reassured me, then filled me in on Silver Moon Pack.
“Saw the news? Ashley’s public image is toast. And Ferris–people online are rasting him for getting cheated on.”
I knew things would blow up, but I hadn’t expected Ferris to let the rumors run wild.
“Vargan’s always crushed bad press. What happened?”
Cynthia shook her head. “Beats me. Dad says Vargan hired a new CEO. Ferris is pulling the strings from behind.”
Let’s drop it. Sleep.”
“Okay.”
Cynthia planned to rest a couple days, then head back to Silver Moon Pack.
But she’d been itching to leave for a while–partly to help me, partly to find her first love, Colton, in the human world.
Back in college, Cynthia’d snuck out of the pack, enrolled in a human university. There, she met Colton–campus heartthrob, handsome, charismatic, but from a poor family.
They looked perfect together, like a match made in heaven. But the gap wasn’t just money–she’d hidden her werewolf identity.
Even if Colton could accept it, her family would never let her marry a human.
Her dad had been pushing her to marry another noble wolf for years.
Now Cynthia had a job lined up. She wanted to stand on her own, prove she didn’t need a marriage deal to thrive.
Once Ferris learned where she was, he didn’t hesitate. He ordered a private jet, bound for tt.
Night hung heavy. The villa’s lights glowed dim.
Simon knocked.
“Come in.”
Ferris hadn’t changed–still in a crumpled shirt, slouched on the couch.
Simon opened the door. Chaos hit him first: bottles littered the floor, booze stung the air. This mess didn’t look like an Alpha’s territory.
He frowned. “Boss, the pack’s acting up. Shouldn’t you head back to take charge?”
Ferris’s handpicked men were capable, but without his iron grip, elders were tirring up trouble. Things were unraveling.

But Ferris just stared, empty. “uy.
Simon froze. He’d served Ferris for years- never seen him blow off pack hustless for parsmal crap.
Before he could argue, another knock sounded.
Simon answered. A calm looking man stood there, familiar somehow.
*Who are you?*
“Leo. Aurora’s lawyer. We met a few years back.”
At “Aurora,” Simon tensed.
Leo stepped inside, glanced at disheveled Terris, blinked, then pulled papers from his briefcase.
“Alpha Ferris. I’m here on her behalf. She wants you to sign this,”
Ferris’s eyes focused, cold. “What is it?”
Leo held out the papers, voice crisp.
“My client gave me funds. She says it repays your family’s pre–wedding support to hers. After this, you’re done. No ties left.”
