Chapter 17
The room went silent as the three of them stared at the document, the official seal glinting in the light.
Arabella scoffed.
“Seriously? What is Isla playing at now?”
“She didn’t get to be part of the Mating Ceremony, so what–this is her way of getting back at us? Handing Rhett that stupid document just to make him think we treated her like garbage?”
She let out a bitter laugh.
“Bet she’s feeling real smug right now, knowing it all fell apart.”
Her words lit a spark of anger in both Regis
convinced she was behind it all.

Without a second thought, Regis pulled out his phone.
“She needs to be put in her place.”
But all he got was a cold, robotic voice: This number is no longer in service.

“She blocked me? Unbelievable. She’s really trying

Viviana tried calling too–same result.
“She’s completely cut us off,” she said, her voice tight with disbelief.

“Then let’s make it official,” Arabella snapped. “If she’s so set on leaving, let her out of the Grayscale family for good.
Regis and Viviana exchanged a glance, and both nodded.
“We’ll make it official,” Regis said coldly. “She’s no longer one of us.”
Only then did Arabella exhale, some of the fury easing off her face.
Later that night, back at Grayscale estate, Arabella stood frozen at the gates, eyes locking on the bright red celebration banners still hanging from earlier.
With a scream, she lunged forward and began ripping everything down–the flowers, the streamers, the signage. All of it. Torn, shredded, destroyed.
She didn’t touch her dinner. Just stormed upstairs and locked herself in her room.
Outside, Regis and Viviana paced anxiously, taking turns knocking on her door.
“Arabella, honey, you’ve had a long day,” Viviana coaxed. “At least eat something, please.”
“Come on, sweetie,” Regis added. “Whatever it is, we can fix it—just open the door.”
Finally, Arabella’s voice rang out, furious and shaky.
“I don’t care what it takes–I will marry Rhett!”
“The whole world saw that Mating Ceremony. If I don’t go through with it, I’ll be nothing but a joke!”
“You said you had a plan. So fix this. Now.”
Left with no choice, Regis and Viviana drove straight to Echelon Pack’s estate.
Before the car had even stopped, a group of guards in black suits stepped forward, blocking the entrance. Chapter 17

One of them tapped the driver’s side window with an electric baton.
“This is private territory. No trespassing.”
Regis stepped out, trying to puff up his chest.
“We’re not just anybody. We’re Alpha Rhett’s future in–laws.”
“You better go let him know we’re here. Otherwise, if he finds out you kept us waiting-”
He didn’t even get to finish.
The Beta smirked, “Future in–laws?”
“Our Alpha doesn’t have a mate. So I don’t know who the hell you think you are.”
He raised his baton slightly, just enough to make his point.
“Now get lost. Or do I need to escort you off the property myself?”
Viviana flinched back immediately, too startled to speak.
But Regis wasn’t done yet. He turned toward the estate gates and yelled, “Rhett! Please—Arabella made a mistake, but there’s more to the story! You have to hear us out!”
“The Mating Ceremony already went public. If you back out now, it’ll reflect badly on you too! Think about how that looks to your Pack!”
The Beta stepped forward to silence him, but before he could act, a man who looked like a steward appeared and whispered something
in his ear.
The Beta’s expression shifted. He stepped back.
“You’re lucky. Alpha Rhett said he’ll see you.”
“Me?” Regis pointed to himself, stunned.
The Beta nodded.
“Just you. She stays here. Don’t wander.”
Viviana looked like she wanted to protest, but Regis stopped her. He gave a tight nod and followed the steward through the doors of the
estate.
