He was dressed in a sharp suit with a Vacheron Constantin worth hundreds of thousands on his wrist. Tall, handsome, and polished, he looked every bit like a CEO straight out of a romance novel.
All the streamers had their eyes glued to Benjamin, their voices thick with envy. “Ms. Simmons, is this your husband? D*mn, no wonder someone’s out here trying to be the mistress–he’s rich and hot.”
Jade soaked in the compliments, beaming so hard she could barely keep her mouth closed. She pouted dramatically and made her way toward Benjamin. “Babe, you’re finally here.”
I let out a cold laugh at her performance.
Benjamin slapped her hand away without a word. Then, with a loud thud, he dropped to his knees in front of me.
Jade looked utterly stunned, and even the streamers stared at each other in disbelief.
“What the hell is going on?”
Benjamin’s eyes were red–rimmed, his voice trembling as he spoke. “Honey, I’m sorry!”
By the time I was born, my dad was already worth hundreds of millions. I’d grown up surrounded by flattery and backhanded praise, and I was long sick of the games people played. So, I chose to keep my background hidden and live like any ordinary
person.
At school, I was basically invisible. Benjamin, on the other hand, was the golden boy–undeniably the most popular guy on campus, always trailed by a swarm of lovestruck girls. When he confessed to me, I was shocked and overjoyed. I couldn’t figure out what about me had caught his eye.
He was practically the perfect boyfriend: attentive, gentle, endlessly patient.
After graduation, he said he didn’t want an ordinary life and was set on starting a business. But he didn’t have a dime to his name. Feeling bad for him, I pretended I’d won the lottery and gave him a million as his startup capital.
He was deeply moved. Not long after, he proposed. Back then, I really thought I’d found true love.
The joke was on me. Just when I’d found out I was pregnant, the woman he was secretly keeping came knocking on my door.
I’d feit guilty, thinking I owed him the truth. I was even planning to tell him about the baby and my real identity at the same
time.
Looking back now, thank God I didn’t.
If this had happened before, I would’ve rushed over the moment he dropped to his knees. But now? I just stood there and watched.
When I didn’t react, he started crawling toward me in tears–only for Jade to yank him back.
“What the hell, Benjamin Steele? What are you doing, calling that b*tch your wife and getting on your knees for her? I’m your wife! We’re the ones with the marriage certificate!”
She scrambled to pull it from her purse and shoved it in his face, grabbing the collar of his suit. “See this? I’m your wife!”
The streamers looked just as confused, all turning toward Benjamin with baffled expressions.
At that moment, I slowly pulled a piece of paper from my own bag and revealed, “What a coincidence, I’ve got a marriage certificate too.”
The livestream chat exploded with question marks.
Wait, they both have marriage certificates? So, who’s the real wife here?‘
Has this guy lost his d*mn mind? It’s 2025, we’re still under monogamy laws, right? How the hell does he have two marriage
licenses?!‘

Jade was growing more hysterical by the second, pounding her fists against Benjamin’s shoulder.
“What’s going on?! Say something! Hers has to be fake, right? Tell me you only married me! Say it!”
Benjamin suddenly shoved her off and slumped to the floor, defeated. “Yours is the fake.”

Then, he crawled back over to me, tears streaming down his face as he took my hand tenderly and looked up at me. “Olivia Iverson is the only woman I’ve ever married.”
Honey, I’ll cut her off immediately. I really, truly love you. Please, just give me one more chance. I swear, it’ll never happen again.
Benjamin was pouring his heart out like we were in some sappy drama, but it just made me want to puke. I slapped him across the face and threw the divorce papers my lawyer had brought straight at him.
“We’re done, Benjamin. Spare me the act–it’s disgusting.”
