Chapter 11
The crowd’s teasing made Jaylen’s youthful hormones kick in, and he scratched his head sheepishly.
Narissa, on the other hand, shrugged it off effortlessly, completely unfazed by the banter.
Maybe to avoid awkwardness, or perhaps because Narissa’s earlier words had struck a chord, Jaylen thought for a moment before suddenly extending his hand to her.
“Uh… actually, our racing team is short one person. If you’re into racing too, why not join us?” he invited.

Even Jaylen himself was stunned the moment the words left his mouth. ‘How had I just impulsively invited a refined lady to something so wild?‘
But once spoken, there was no taking it back–because Narissa had already answered with a breezy, “Sure.”
She was as fiery as a fox, effortlessly blending into any situation.
And racing? Well, aside from assassination and toying with the War God Bastien as the Phantom Thief, it was one of her few
hobbies.
Of course, she was down to join.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa!”
The back–and–forth between the two left the guys around them dumbfounded.
“Jaylen, what the heck? Flirting is one thing, but inviting her into our team? That’s next level!”
“Seriously, dude. If you wanna take her for a spin, fine. But bringing her into the squad? Nah, we ain’t cool with that.”
“Yeah, our team might not be pro–level, but we’re legit. What if she drags us down? No way!”
“I veto this!”
The guys didn’t have any real beef with Narissa, but letting a girl into their racing crew? That was a hard pass.
Especially since, before returning home, Narissa had just been a cleaner–not even a trained socialite, let alone a racer.
“Unless she can prove herself in a race. If she’s at least decent, then fine. Otherwise, no shot!” one guy declared.
“Dude, shut up. What if she wrecks herself? You wanna deal with the Everton family coming after you?” another guy fretted.
“Racing’s no joke. You gotta have skills to compete. Otherwise, just take a few laps for fun and call it a day.”
“How about this, girl? I’ll take you for a couple of practice laps first. If you handle it well, we can do a little race later. Sound good?”
In short, they still doubted Narissa was

to it.
But that was kinda normal. Race cars were death traps. Especially for the Everton family’s newly found trophy daughter.

Even those rich girls who grew up with all the luxuries and learned racing skills rarely dare to actually drive a race car–it was all about mentality.
But here was the thing.
Narissa just didn’t care. She crossed her arms, raised a brow slightly, and her eyes were sparkling with excitement. “Nah, let’s just get down to business.
“Since you guys aren’t cool with me joining, I’ll make you eat your words.”
The moment her bold challenge was declared, the guys were stunned. “W–well, don’t expect us to go easy. Don’t cry if you lose later.”
Jaylen couldn’t help but ask, worried, “You sure you’re good? Maybe I can take you for a couple of laps first?”
“Relax.” Narissa refused.
Jaylen backed off at that. But as he turned to his crew, that smooth operator vibe kicked in. “Whatever happens out there, she’s still a girl.
“Cut her slack, got it? Keep it safe before you chase stupid trophies.”
“Chill, Jaylen!”
“We’ll just show her what real racing looks like, no hard feelings!”
“Yeah, we got it,” the boys answered.
With their reassurance, Jaylen relaxed a bit.
And so, a friendly match to join Jaylen’s racing team kicked off for Narissa.
Before the race, Jaylen even picked out a decent sports car for her thoughtfully, which Narissa readily took.
“Don’t stress. Just drive like normal. No one’s gonna laugh if you lose,” Jaylen reminded her gently before she got in.
Narissa nodded.
It seemed like she didn’t expect to meet such a sweet guy in this world.
Nice temper, good looks–just too naive.
Naive enough to get played easily.
Like, say, by her.
In the race car’s rearview mirror, a damn steely fox–smirk flashed in her eyes–pure predator vibes.
The race was about to start.
Narissa made a few quick adjustments to the car’s settings. Just then, the referee’s gun fired, and Jaylen and the others‘ sports cars zoomed off the starting line with a “whoosh.”

Chapter 11
Narissa had only just started her engine.
She took her time, leisurely pressing the accelerator, and her car finally got moving.

Since she was already several beats behind at the start, and her speed was steady with no intention of going wild, her car kept a short distance from the last car in the pack.
Jaylen, who was leading the pack, kept checking the rearview mirror to observe the situation behind him.
When he saw that Narissa, despite being far behind the last car, was still keeping up with their speed, he was genuinely surprised.
The others felt the same way.
They figured that even though she, as a girl, was nowhere near their level, having the guts to race was already impressive.
No need to demand too much from her.
Over the walkie–talkie, someone said to Jaylen, “Jaylen, she’s way too slow. We can’t just keep cruising like this. How about we step on it a bit?”
“Yeah, I agree. This snail’s pace is boring as hell.”
“Umm,” Jaylen hesitated. “Narissa, can you hear us? What do you think?”
A moment later, Narissa’s voice came through the walkie–talkie. “I’m fine with it. Do whatever you want.”
Awkward silence reigned for a moment.
“Miss Everton, we just think this isn’t exciting enough. No offense–just take it slow, safety first, okay?”
“Yeah, safety first.”
Once they reached a consensus, Jaylen hit the gas.
Seeing this, the guys behind him got pumped too. The thrill of speeding down the racetrack had them slamming the accelerator to the floor.
They couldn’t wait to show off every racing trick they knew.
Actually, their whole stunt was a pure mating dance to show Narissa how wolves run this concrete jungle.
Whoosh!
Watching the cars ahead pulling off all sorts of moves, Narissa just watched, the corners of her lips curling up slightly.
“Damn, guys, slow down. Take it easy on me, the rookie here,” the guy driving right ahead of Narissa pleaded over the walkie–talkie.
And then… his peripheral vision blurred for a second.
Zoom!

Chapter 11
Something seemed to fly past him.
Thinking it was just his eyes playing tricks, he was about to rub them when he suddenly saw a sports car ahead, moving at a crazy speed and with insane skills, overtaking one car after another.
“Who… who is that? That car looks kinda familiar,” he gasped.
