“Sorry, I’ve got stuff to do. Not going.” Narissa’s reply was just as blunt and decisive, straight–up rejecting Jaylen.
This left their classmates even more stunned.
‘OMG! Does she even know who she’s turning down?
“That’s Jaylen!‘ they exclaimed inwardly.
And from what they knew, Jaylen had never invited any girl out before. Today was the first time he’d ever done it, and it was for Narissa–yet she said no.
Talk about ungrateful!
“Then let’s plan for next time?” Jaylen probed.
“Mm.” Narissa nodded.
Just then, their conversation happened to be overheard by Cressida and Miranda, who had just arrived.
They caught the gasps and shocked whispers from the surrounding students.
“OMG, Jaylen actually asked Narissa out. Are they dating?”
“This Narissa’s got some skills, huh? She just got here and already snagged our kind, gentle, and most popular senior, Jaylen. Wonder what tricks she used.”
“What else could it be? Just some seductive vixen tactics.”
“But seeing them standing together just now, I kinda thought they looked perfect for each other.”
Hearing the chatter, Cressida was practically fuming, so much so that she didn’t even hear what Miranda was saying to her.
To her, Narissa was nothing but a scheming fox.
‘Back for five minutes and already setting sights on Jaylen? All that trash knows is playing seduction games!
‘No wonder she was involved in all those shady dealings before coming home. Cressida swore she’d expose all the dirty things Narissa did before returning–right in front of everyone and let Jaylen see her true colors.
As Narissa walked away, Cressida clenched her fists so hard her fingertips turned white.
Miranda watched Cressida trembling with rage, her eyes gleaming with fake concern as she oozed. “There there, Cressida. Don’t pop a vein. Our Jaylen prince’s just under some bimbo spell right now.
“Guys, y’know, they like a bit of novelty. It’s normal.
“Oh, hey, how about this? I know someone. He can get in touch with the world’s top hacker, Queen. Wanna see if…”
“Queen?” Miranda’s words instantly grabbed Cressida’s attention. She turned to Miranda, eyes wide with surprise.

Chapter 14
You mean that Queen? The legendary hacker who breached international security systems and even took them down?”
Miranda leaned in with a vicious smile. “Exactly. Set him loose on your sister’s past? That bloodhound’ll turn her life inside out–every damn thread on her undies, guaranteed.”
Not to mention how many affairs or side–chick gigs she had.
Cressida said firmly, “Get me in touch with him.”
“Well…” Miranda immediately showed a hint of hesitation. “We can get in touch with him, but their fees aren’t cheap.”
“You think I’m short on cash? Hurry up, go on.”
“Alright, alright…”
Cressida clenched her fists tightly, cursing inwardly, ‘Narissa, you brought this on yourself.
“The one thing you should never have done was to set your sights on Jaylen. You knew I liked him, yet you still did this.
A younger sister stealing her older sister’s man?
‘What kind of nonsense is this? I’ll make sure Jaylen sees you for who you really are!‘
Meanwhile, Narissa, who had rushed home in a hurry, had no idea what Cressida was up to.
As soon as she closed her bedroom door behind her, she immediately called Octopus with her assembled communicator.
“What’s so urgent that you had to leave a mark on my phone?” Narissa asked.
Octopus’s voice quickly came through on the other end. “Boss, it wasn’t intentional. It’s just that the intel team has a new assignment, and the client specifically asked for you.
“Plus, the situation’s a bit… unusual. Uh, well, you’d better see for yourself. I’ll send it over.”
No sooner had he finished than a transaction slip was transmitted over.
When Narissa saw the contents of the slip, she was speechless–so much so that she wanted to facepalm.
The reason was simple: the slip was an investigation request, and the person being investigated was none other than herself.
Even more amusing was that the client who wanted her investigated was none other than her biological sister, Cressida, whom she had only recently reunited with.
The reward listed on the slip was 15 million dollars.
Narissa laughed. It was a cold, chilling laugh.
She didn’t know her sister was so loaded.
But paying to have her investigate herself? That was just next–level stupid.

“Boss, forget everything else, your identity is like the top national secret. Even War God Bastien doesn’t have clearance to access it, let alone her.”
Octopus paused slightly before continuing, “Should I just turn her down now?”
“Why?” Narissa smirked, “Money handed to us on a silver platter–why not take it? Accept it.”
Free cash? Hell yeah. If her darling sister was handing over 15 million like candy, snatching it was basic manners.
Octopus was left speechless, thinking, ‘Damn, even her own sister’s cash isn’t safe. Guess Boss’s usual stinginess with us is nothing in comparison.”
Muttering a few complaints under his breath, Octopus hung up and quickly replied to Cressida.
When Cressida saw her order get accepted, she nearly rolled off the bed in excitement. ‘Heh, now getting dirt on Narissa’s shady past would be a piece of cake.
‘Probably even dig up stuff like which tycoons she’s slept with and how many times–nothing’s too hidden to uncover.
‘Let’s see how she keeps playing the innocent, goody–two–shoes act in front of everyone after this.

That night, things got lively outside the Everton family’s villa.
The reason? The Everton family’s welcoming party for Narissa was happening the day after tomorrow. Some reporters, eager to snag exclusive scoops early, decided to camp outside the Everton family.
The moment anyone from the Everton family showed up, they’d swarm in, firing off questions like rapid–fire cannons.
Right then, at the entrance, the Everton couple had just returned home.
“Mr. Everton, is the second daughter you found really your long–lost child?”
“Before being brought home, was she really working as a cleaner abroad?”
“Rumors say she was kept as a mistress by a wealthy man before being found. Is that true? As parents, how do you feel about this?”
Sharp and unfavorable topics about Narissa kept popping up nonstop.
The Everton couple had no idea where these nasty rumors came from, but they were all aimed at smearing their daughter’s name. As parents, they naturally couldn’t stand it.
“Everyone, please don’t spread baseless rumors. Please leave now,” Hector said sternly, shielding his wife as they headed home.
“My daughter is innocent. If you don’t have proof, don’t spout nonsense here. If you keep spewing lies, I’ll send you a lawyer’s letter and hold you accountable. Get out of my house! Now!” Amanda, being a woman, didn’t have the same commanding presence as her husband when handling the situation.
But her words still managed to intimidate the reporters somewhat.

So, they stopped asking those pointed questions and switched to inquiring about the details of the welcoming party.
With all the commotion outside, Dario naturally found out immediately.
Watching the surveillance footage from the gate that the butler brought and hearing the reporters‘ gossip, he was practically fuming.
“Told you that brat would embarrass our family the moment she came back. She’s causing trouble for the Everton family nonstop!” Dario was so angry he nearly choked.
Now, Hector and Amanda were standing before him.
Hearing his words, they quickly defended, “Dad, those reporters were just spouting nonsense. Please don’t take it seriously.”
“Exactly! Narissa isn’t that kind of person. You’ve seen how powerful the media is–they can twist lies into truth. This is all slander.”
Dario waved his hand weakly, as if drained of all energy. “Enough. I’ve already had people suppress those harmful rumors online for now. I’ll also pressure those reporters.”
“Dad, I knew you cared about Narissa, too!” Hector brightened up.
“Hmph! I just don’t want one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch!” Dario snorted coldly. “Listen–from now until the welcoming party is over, no one in the Everton family is allowed to step outside. No more trouble!”
His words were firm and reso
