Daniel returned to the hospital.
Violet lay in the hospital bed, her face pale as paper.

Daniel’s heart ached as he rushed forward to embrace her. “Violet, are you okay? Don’t worry, I’ll find Harper soon and make her donate bone marrow for you.”
A flicker of amusement crossed Violet’s eyes, though her face showed guilt. “But Harper is pregnant. How can I ask her to undergo surgery for me?”
“The child she’s carrying is nothing but a bastard anyway. I’ll just make her get rid of it.” Daniel’s handsome face was filled with cold cruelty.
Violet hesitated, then said gently, “Once I recover, I’ll definitely repay Harper properly.”
“Why would you want to repay such a vicious and stupid woman?” At the mention of me, Daniel’s teeth clenched with hatred. “If it weren’t for her using her family background to bully people, you and I would have been together long ago. During my most difficult times, you were the one who gave me money so I could continue my studies. You’re the only one in my heart. People like Harper who use their family’s wealth and power to bully others–I’m going to make sure she gets a taste of being bullied herself.”

I nearly laughed out loud.

Daniel claimed I used my family background to force him, but he was clearly the one who pursued me, saying passionately, “Harper, I really like you.”
He said Violet helped him through his most difficult times, but the anonymous donation he received when his parents died came from me.
Violet was nothing but an impostor who stole my place.
At that moment, Violet lowered her head shyly, hiding the guilt in her eyes.
Just then, a doctor burst into the room.
Seeing Violet and Daniel embracing, he was furious. “Daniel, are you even human? Harper’s mother is dying, and you still have time to be intimate with another woman here.”
It was Frankie Davidson, my best friend.
On the day I married Daniel, he asked me with red eyes, “Are you sure you won’t regret this?”
After seeing me nod, Frankie turned and left, going abroad for several years of advanced studies.

Frankie was stunned. “But Harper is already dead.”
As a doctor, he was the one who handled my body.
Daniel’s expression suddenly turned serious.
He stood up, walked over to Frankie, and punched him in the eye. “Are you also here to act for Harper? I’ve heard enough of these pathetic lies. Violet can barely hold on anymore. If Harper keeps hiding, I can’t guarantee what I might do.”
Frankie covered his injured eye, his voice becoming hoarse. “Daniel, you’ve been married to Harper for three whole years. Is this really how you’re going to treat her? Look at the watch on your wrist–Harper gave you that. Don’t you care about your relationship at all?”
Daniel’s whole body stiffened as he looked at his wrist.

But Daniel left Morrison Manor without hesitation because Violet had called saying she was afraid of the dark.
An indescribable pain filled my heart.
I suddenly felt a twisted anticipation. I was eager to see Daniel’s reaction when he learned of my death.
Would he sneer, or would he cry?
