Chapter 5
Daniel pressed the dagger against Frankie’s other hand, forcing him to lead the way to my grave.
Before I died, I had said I desperately wanted to return to Brody’s side, the one who had loved me so dearly.
So Frankie buried me next to Brody in a beautiful mountain setting.
Daniel’s expression grew dark as he stared at my headstone for a long time.
My photo was attached to the headstone, showing me with a radiant smile.
After what felt like an eternity, Daniel said coldly, “Dig!”
Frankie roared in fury, “Daniel, have you lost your mind? If you disturb Harper, she’ll never forgive you, not even as a ghost.”
Frankie struggled desperately, but the bodyguards held him down, rendering him helpless.
He could only watch in horror as Daniel had my grave dug up.
My body had long been cremated, with the ashes stored in an
urn.

But Daniel recognized it immediately.
Because hanging from my urn was a bracelet.
No one knew that bracelet better than Daniel. He had spent three days and nights crafting it by hand as a gift for me.

This bracelet was also the token of our confirmed relationship.
Back then he had said, “Harper, I’ll be good to you for the rest of my life.”
But who could have imagined he had always been scheming for the Morrison family fortune, with only Violet in his heart?
Daniel knew that no matter what, I would never throw away that
bracelet.
So the person in the urn was indeed me, his wife.
Daniel began trembling all over. “Harper, you’re actually dead. How could you die?”
Frankie looked at him with pure hatred. “It’s all your fault! To get you accepted by the Morrison family board, Harper ran around everywhere for you, damaging her health, yet she still insisted on keeping your child. But what about you? You abandoned her, neglected her, and let Violet show off and bully her right in front of her, ultimately causing her death. You always thought Violet was the pure and beautiful person in your

heart, but the one who silently helped you and stayed by your side was always Harper.”
With each word Frankie spoke, Daniel’s face grew paler.
Finally, he couldn’t take it anymore. He covered his ears as tears streamed down his face.
He roared, “Stop talking! I told you to stop!”
Daniel then had his men investigate Violet.
The information was quickly delivered to him.
Photo after photo showed Violet showing off and bullying me right in front of my pregnant self.
Document after document told Daniel that when he had no capabilities whatsoever, the person who never left his side was me, not Violet.
His assistant Ezra Black also told him, “After investigation, Miss Marshall indeed doesn’t have a terminal illness and doesn’t need a bone marrow transplant. She’s not pregnant either. Everything was just her conspiring with the doctor to deceive you.”
You see, uncovering the truth was actually that simple.
But the old Daniel had never been willing to doubt Violet.

Learning all this, Daniel completely lost his mind.

If I was his benefactor, then what exactly had he been doing all along?
Daniel had driven my father to his death and abused my mother.
He had also stayed by another woman’s side when I was having a difficult labor.
How could he accept this?
Daniel stood frozen. “No. Harper, how could this be? I was wrong. I was truly wrong.”
Daniel pounded his head like a madman. After who knows how long, he suddenly thought of something.
He left behind a worried–looking Ezra, hurried to his car, and appeared once again in front of Elsie.
The moment he saw Elsie, he pleaded, “Elsie, I’m sorry. I was wrong before. I beg you to forgive me.”
The always high and mighty, cold and ruthless Daniel was actually being this humble one day.
Elsie wouldn’t even look at him. “What’s the point of regretting now? Harper is dead. Brody is dead. Your child is dead too. Even Frankie can never hold a scalpel again because of you. You

can never atone for your sins.”
Each of her words stabbed into Daniel’s heart like a knife.
Daniel’s tears kept falling.

“No, there’s still you,” he said hoarsely. “Don’t worry. It’s just cancer, right? I can definitely cure you. Harper was always filial. As long as I take good care of you, Harper will definitely forgive me. She definitely will.”
Elsie looked at him quietly, her eyes full of mockery.
For some reason, Daniel actually felt afraid under that gaze.
Elsie said softly, “You don’t have that chance anymore. I gave up cancer treatment half a month ago. I was the one who agreed to let you and Harper be together. I failed Harper. I want to die with her so she won’t be lonely. I’ve held on until now just to see you looking regretful like this.”
After speaking, Elsie began coughing violently.
Bright red, glaring blood slowly trickled from the corner of her mouth, proving she wasn’t lying.
Elsie was still smiling as she said, “Daniel, I’m dying soon too. You’ve killed Harper and all her family members. Harper will never forgive you in this lifetime.”
Daniel stared at her blankly, feeling like he had fallen into hell.
