Chapter 6
Everyone around is stunned–they’ve never seen someone so righteous after killing someone in a car accident.]
The same people who called me kind now look at me with disgust: “This is antisocial personality disorder, right? Her husband killed someone and she still acts like she fears nothing “||
“Maybe she resents Mr. Carter because her husband went to prison.“[]
“Why even talk to someone like this? Just shoot her!”
Harrison sighs and says righteously, “If you hate me for sending your husband to prison, just target me alone. Why hurt so many children?”
“If you have the guts, release them and let me be your hostage!”
Officer Williams is alarmed and stops him: “Mr. Carter, your health comes first.”
Anger nearly drowns me–how dare he say such things?|||
Everyone around looks at Harrison Carter with admiration.
Did he calculate that I wouldn’t dare?
Once I open the door to release people, the police would have countless ways to control or even kill me.]
I take a deep breath. “Fine, since Mr. Carter is so kind–hearted, how could I possibly refuse?”
Harrison’s expression freezes, asking incredulously, “You agree?”
“Gokil
kill yourself. You won’t live much longer anyway.”
“Trading one old geezer’s life for so many kids–worth it.”]
My laughter comes through the speaker: “Mr. Carter, I’m an honest person. As soon as you kill yourself, I’ll immediately release everyone.“||
“What’s wrong? Too scared? Then stop acting so high and mighty.”
Harrison Carter stands there, gritting his teeth and glaring in my direction.
“Peach, stop struggling. No matter what tricks you pull, you won’t escape today!”
I say expressionlessly, “I just want to know why you kidnapped my daughter.”
Harrison Carter asks innocently. “What kidnapping? You still think I kidnapped her? Do you have proot?]
He’s such a successful entrepreneur–what reason would he have to kidnap a child?
“The evidence is on you! Harrison Carter, the principal’s been arrested. Think she won’t rat you out?
A flicker of unease crosses Harrison’s face, but it’s quickly masked.]
He says with false compassion. “Peach, I know losing your child is painful. How about this–release them, and I’ll pay to help. you find your child.”]]
“No need, because I already know where she is
The sagging flesh on Harrison Carter’s face trembles slightly, his cloudy old eyes growing thoughtful.
Officer Williams says urgently, “Where exactly is the child? Tell us and we’ll rescue her immediately!“]
My tone becomes impatient: “Officer Williams, I’ve told you many times–she’s in this preschool.“[]
Thankfully, she’s still in this preschool.
Officer Williams frantically scratches his head: “At this point you’re still speaking in riddles? Just say where specifically!”
But I ignore him.]
Before revealing the child’s location, I need everyone to see Harrison Carter’s true face![]
As darkness falls, everyone grows anxious.
Someone curses at me: “You know where your brat is so just release everyone!”
“Exactly! This psycho still wants to slander Mr. Carter–disgusting!
I interrupt the arguments: “Not just me–Mr. Carter also knows where my daughter is, right?”
Amid the crowd’s flattery, Harrison Carter regains some composure.]
“How would I know where your daughter is?”
“How wouldn’t you? After all, your aging heart desperately needs my daughter’s as replacement.“]
Harrison Carter’s eyes fill with malice, but his mouth speaks of righteousness: “What are you talking about? I don’t know. I just want you to release all the children!||
“Harrison Carter, your heart right now used to be my mother’s! Three years ago, you tried to have your son kill me, but when that was exposed, he was accidentally killed by my husband.~||
“Now your heart finally can’t hold out, can it?“]
Harrison Carter barely supports his body, stubbornly saying “I really don’t understand what you’re talking about. Even if my heart isn’t good, I’ve never considered a transplant ”
Boring!
1 check the time–it’s really getting late
“Mr. Carter, stop struggling. Even if you don’t admit it, you won’t live much longer.“[]
“Besides me and my daughter, can you find another heart donor?”
“Don’t you want to save all the children? I agree to let you exchange with them. I won’t hurt you–after all, you: daughter.”
“Mr. Carter? Are you scared now?”
have my
Many parents cry and kneel, begging him to trade for their children, while countless reporters point their cameras.]]
After a moment, he finally agrees: “This old life of mine isn’t worth much. Peach, open the door.”
Little children file out in lines led by teachers, and my voice follows.[]
“Harrison Carter, come to the bathroom.
Police quickly fill the classroom while I hide in the bathroom passage.]
This is a small space carved out between two classrooms, with two entrances. I’ve blocked one, leaving only a single way in and out.
Harrison Carter crawls in, facing me.[]
That wrinkled face finally shows its true evil smile.]
No surveillance here, no outsiders. He smiles and says, “Peach, you’re not stupid but not someone–you have to pay with your life.”
