When I started college, my dad drove me to the dorms in his Lamborghini.[]
The moment my roommate found out Dad was the CEO of Fraser Industries, her whole demeanor changed.]
“Fraser’s so swamped with work and you still made him personally drive you to school? Where’s your mom?”
“See, a family just can’t function without a proper lady of the house… Give me a couple more days to study up, and I’ll totally take care of you two!“]

The second I walked through the door, I bumped into my roommate Tessa Carter, who was practically bouncing off the walls.
“Did you guys see that insane car downstairs? I looked it up – it’s worth like forty million!“]]
I casually strolled over to my bed and turned to Dad.]]
“Dad, didn’t you say you only paid four mil for that thing?“]
Dad gave this awkward laugh and stayed quiet.

Tessa’s eyes lit up like Christmas morning as she rushed over to me.]

Dad looked completely blindsided. You could see he wanted to bolt, but he didn’t want to hurt some college kid’s feelings.[]

As I unpacked, I couldn’t help thinking: Are all college kids this unhinged these days?
Next thing I know, Tessa knocked all my stuff onto the floor.[]
“So where’s my welcome gift? You know, respect for your elders and all that?”
I stared at her, genuinely confused about whether she was serious or just messing around.
When I didn’t move, she actually slapped me, hands on her hips, glaring.
“Is that how you look at your elders? Zero manners!“]

I shot up and shoved her to the floor, pointing and yelling.
“Since when do they let psychos into college? Get help!“]
People outside heard the commotion and came running to gawk.
Tessa collapsed on the floor, fake–crying.
“I know you hate me! But I’m really trying to be a good stepmom…“]
Everyone gasped, totally shocked by what she’d just said.
I was fuming, staring at her in disbelief.[]

Tessa stood up and shoved her phone screen in everyone’s faces.[]
