“Bullshit! You did this to me!“[]
“Why did you have to move?“]
“Why couldn’t you just stay in that crappy place and die already?! Why?“]]
The realization hit me like a punch to the gut. She came back for this.
Hannah wasn’t finished. Her words spilled out like venom.
“If you two die, I can sell the house for more. I’ll finally make enough to go to that signing event!“]
“I’ll just hide in the closet like last time, wait for my idol to fall asleep, then crawl into his bed.”
“Do you know how many people dream of that? You’ll never get it!“[]
Her eyes burned with hatred.]
“It’s all your fault I almost got sold again! You should’ve just died peacefully!”
She brought the knife closer, smiling darkly.
Jessica Wilson, aren’t you the saint? Let’s see who you save.”
“Your mother–in–law? Or your son?”
“Either you strangle that little bastard now… or…” []
The knife pressed deeper into my mother–in–law’s neck.
“I’ll just kill her!“]
“Don’t pretend! You spent all that money on this old woman, right?”
“How much do you really care?“]
I was trapped, my heart pounding, as if I was about to bleed out.
That was my baby, barely even opened his eyes yet.[]
I squeezed my eyes shut in pain, feeling the tears fall onto his tiny face.
I quickly wiped them away, whispering. “Im sorry… baby…”
My mother in law shook her head helplessly, and Hannah’s eyes lit up with sick glee[]
In that moment, William came crashing in, hurling a water jug at Hannah’s head.
It didn’t knock her out, but it did make her stagger, stars dancing in her vision.
Seeing the hospital security guards behind him, she panicked and bolted out the door.
Chapter 10
The guards came back moments later, looking defeated. []
“Sorry, we almost had her.”
“But then some thugs grabbed her. The cops are still chasing them down.”
I held my baby close, my heart still racing, but a sense of relief washed over m
I knew those thugs had to be with Daniel. [
Hannah had gotten away this time, but next time? Her luck was running out.

Life returned to normal, and on my son’s first birthday, I got a call from the police.[]
Hannah’s hody had been found, grotesquely twisted, on an uninhabited island.[]
They asked if we wanted to claim the body.
I gently declined and turned back to the celebration.
