Chapter 6
That day when we got home, we walked right into my mom bitching about me to my little sister.[]
“I’ve poured my heart out for that girl,” Mom was blubbering. “Always singing her praises to everyone. And what do I get back? A fucking ungrateful brat who treats me like dirt.“||
“Look at me–I’m old and breaking down! My back’s shot, I get dizzy… All I wanted was to crash at her place for some peace and quict, but she bosses me around like I’m her damn maid!“]
The whole time she’s running her mouth, she’s giving me these dirty looks.
My little sister Lily jumped on that shit with her fake–ass, snarky tone: “Seriously, sis? Mom’s getting old. Can’t you just chill out and stop making her do stuff around here?”
You know Dad kicked the bucket early, and Mom raised all three of us by herself–wiping our asses, dealing with our crap. Her body’s completely fucked because of us.“]
I told Zoe to go read in her room, then chucked my bag onto the couch hard enough to make a point.
“Well would you look at that, Lily! So you CAN see Mom struggling! That’s weird, I thought you were fucking blind the way you
never notice shit.”
“You know what? Fine, I’m the ungrateful bitch. You’re the golden child. Since Mom obviously can’t stand my guts and you’re already here, why don’t you just drag her ass to your place today?”
While talking. I started grabbing all Mom’s crap and shoving it into Lily’s arms.
Lily freaked immediately. She pushed everything away, stuttering, “That’s–that’s not gonna work! I just started my job, I’m broke as hell. If I take Mom home with me, we’ll both be eating alt for dinner!“]
But I wasn’t having any of her bullshit. I grabbed both their wrists and started shoving them toward the door. “Who cares! She’s our mom, right? Not like she’s some gold–digger who only eats fancy shit. Whatever garbage you’re eating, she can have the same. As long as she doesn’t starve to death, we’re good!”
Seeing she couldn’t weasel her way out, Lily dropped all the bags on the floor and blurted, “Not today! I was just stopping by. Got a meeting back at the office. How about this–I’ll come get Mom tomorrow after work.”
With that bullshit excuse, my baby sister clicked away on her heels, practically running for the elevator.]
Mom stood there awkwardly watching the whole scene, then had the nerve to slap on a fake smile. “Come on, your sister’s still young. She doesn’t know any better. Just let it slide.“]
I smirked. “Oh yeah, she’s practically a baby. Twenty–five years old and still sucking on the tit.“]
For the rest of the night, I didn’t say another damn word to my mom. Just gave her the silent treatment until bedtime.]
But when I spotted the living room light still on and heard weird noises, I pulled up the security cameras to see what the hell was going down.[]
There was Mom in the kitchen, hunched over the stove, messing with something–looking sketchy as fuck
The second I remembered all the shit that went down in my past life, I threw the covers off and jumped out of bed to see what the hell she was up to
