Chapter 9
After hanging up, I was still shaking like a leaf.
From what just went down, it was clear as day–my big sister had come back too.
What freaked me the hell out was: if she came back, would she catch on that I was also back from the dead?]
But from how things were playing out, it looked like she’d just recently popped back and hadn’t figured out I was also a time–jumper.[]
To keep from screwing up, I barely took my eyes off the cameras from the moment I hung up till I crashed at some random hotel for the night.]
Yet when I got back from the bathroom, what I saw on the camera just about made me lose my shit.]]

There was my husband, just getting home, and the second he opened the door, my sister straight–up jumped him, wrapped around his neck, and started making out with him.[]
My husband looked shocked for about half a second before his face lit up like Christmas. Then these two sucked face for a solid five minutes before stumbling into OUR bedroom, still all over each other.]
I can’t even tell you how sick I felt watching this shit. My whole body went ice cold, like I’d been dunked in a frozen lake. I couldn’t stop shaking.]
No way in hell would I have ever thought my husband–the guy I always figured was a decent, loyal dude–was banging my sister behind my back.
After I got my head together, everything suddenly clicked.]
In my last life, after that gas leak, it wasn’t just my husband who bit it–my sister was dead too.
I was out of town for work and hauled ass back as soon as I heard.
Standing over my husband and kid’s cold bodies, I never got the details on how they were found.
Mom kept dodging blame, swearing she didn’t know jack about any gas leak, saying she’d finished cooking and bounced to go dancing with her old lady friends.
I was so wrecked at the time that I never asked why my sister was at my place. Just figured she’d dropped by to see Mom.]
Now I was seeing the whole nasty truth.]
No wonder my sister always threw shade at me, always bitching about how “lucky” I was to score a guy like Mark. Hot, sweet, good money. And bonus–no mother–in–law drama.
There was even that time at a family thing where she got wasted and blurted out, “Wish I was the one who got to marry Mark.“]
Looking back, all the clues were right in my face

Mark saw me and nearly fell on his ass, grabbing at the sheets while stuttering. “Rebecca, wait, I can explain…“]
I slapped the shit out of him twice. “We’ll deal with your crap later,” I spat, then pointed at my mom and sister. “These two were plotting to kill my whole family.”
The cops hauled my sister and mom’s asses down to the station real quick.[]
Even with the video, my sister’s lawyer jumped on all her crazy reincarnation talk, claiming she was batshit crazy.
My sister dodged prison with that move, but my mom’s murder plan was solid evidence. She got three years for trying to off us
On sentencing day, my mom lost her damn mind, pointing and screaming at me.

“All because of that nosy–ass clerk! If she hadn’t butted in and changed your name from “Worthless‘ to ‘Rebecca,‘ you’d have never escaped what you really are!“]]
“Should’ve never pushed you out–or better yet, should’ve choked you the second you popped out!“|
Even though I’d written off my mom ages ago, hearing my original name was supposed to be “Worthless” hit me like a truck.
All this time. I thought I had this deep, pretty name. Turns out, from day one, I was just a dumping ground for my mom’s hate.
But damn, am 1 grateful some random hero saved me from carrying that bullshit my whole life.]
After my mom got locked up, my brother–in–law found out about my sister sleeping with Mark.]
He was pissed and about to divorce her ass. But before he pulled the trigger, I stopped him and pitched a better revenge plan–0 Have her committed to the nuthouse as a family member, since she was already “diagnosed” crazy.[]
My brother–in–law was all over that idea and shipped her straight to hell on earth.]
The day they dragged her to the loony bin, my sister was red–eyed, screaming: “How? You were supposed to be gone! Why’d you come back?”
“I get it–you came back too, didn’t you?”
“You worthless bitch! Total waste of space! Someone like you should’ve stayed dead. Why couldn’t the universe do one thing right and keep you gone?“]
But I just looked at her with fake pity and said. “See how insane she is? People die and that’s it. Nobody comes back.“]
