Chapter 23
“You’re insane.”
After the nurse left, Justin collapsed onto the cold floor.
He stared at his still–bleeding wound.
The fever hadn’t broken completely, leaving him utterly miserable.

Early in their relationship, he’d fallen gravely ill.
Janet had tirelessly cared for him.

Seeing her determined expression, Justin knew then:
This woman owned his heart completely.
Yet years later, Justin inexplicably strayed.

That’s when he met Helen.
In her, he saw the Janet of years past.
Justin convinced himself:
One small detour wouldn’t derail their years together.
Janet would understand.
In their elite social circles,
keeping mistresses was commonplace.
However fond he grew of Helen,
she’d never threaten Janet’s position.
Even those divorce papers could be revoked anytime.
Justin believed everything remained under control.
