Chapter 13
Seeing Olivia, I finally felt a sense of relief.[]

After a moment’s thought, I replied, “Former colleagues. We just happened to run into each other.“[]
When Liam used to take me out and didn’t want to introduce me as his girlfriend, he would often say I was his colleague.[]
I thought he would be satisfied with that answer, but instead, his face darkened even more.]
I ignored him and continued with the introductions.[]
“This is my friend, Olivia.“]
“Like I said, I was here having dinner with a friend.“[]
For some reason, he looked furious.
Hannah, on the other hand, recovered quickly and asked me with a smile.[]
“I didn’t realize you actually had friends who would take you to a place like this, Claire.“[]
“Your friend seems wealthy. What does she do? Where does she work?“[]
Olivia frowned and whispered to me, “Why do I smell something terrible the moment she opens her mouth?“]]
I gave a faint smile. “It’s fine. You get used to it.“[]
Olivia didn’t say anything else, but she could tell that Hannah was hostile.]
She said nonchalantly, “I run a small business. Nothing special.“[]
At this, Hannah became even more smug. She scoffed, her eyes filled with disdain as she looked at Olivia.[]
“Business is tough these days. It must be hard.“[]
“You shouldn’t be squandering your hard–earned money like this.“]
Olivia quickly sensed the malice in her words. She didn’t reply, but secretly asked me, “What’s going on? Do you two have a history?“]
I didn’t lude it from her anymore. In a voice only we could hear, I said.[]
“The guy next to her is my ex–boyfriend. And her current one.“]]
Olivia knew about me and Liam starting the company from scratch. After I joined her, I had also told her about the breakup and the reasons behind it.[]
Olivia scoffed. “You should have said so earlier.“[]

She then turned to Hannah with a smile.]
“So, you’re saying you don’t earn your money the hard way? What do you do for a living?“]
“You don’t exactly exude success. You’re not just mooching off some guy, are you?“[]
“You-!”
Hannah got angry and was about to lunge, but Liam stopped her.[]
“Stop fooling around, Claire. I’m not in the mood for this.“]]
“I know what you’re upset about. I’ll make you a deal. If you agree to get back together, I’ll give you your old job back, plus a ten percent stake in the company. That should make you happy, right?“]]
“Ten percent?”
Before I could even think, Olivia burst out laughing.[]
“Sorry, I’ve already hired her. And I gave her a forty percent stake.“]
