Chapter 23
“Are you happy now?“[]
He looked at me with a dejected expression.[]
Perhaps he was hoping to see a hint of sadness or nervousness, or some other emotion on my face.]]
But I disappointed him again.]]
Him being with Hannah was something I had expected.[]
I didn’t care about his love life.[]
Then what are you doing here?“[]
“Does your girlfriend know you’re here, drunk, in the middle of the night?“[]
“I’ll call her to come pick you up.“[]
Not wanting any trouble, I took out my phone. Just as I was about to call Hannah, Liam snatched it from my hand and threw it across the room.]]
It shattered into pieces with a loud CRACK.]
“Do you really feel nothing at all?“]

“Do you know that I waited for you all night that day? But you stood me up. You even flew to another country to avoid me.“[]
He scoffed, pointing a shaky finger at me.[]
“Claire, you’re a damn liar.“]]
“I regret ever being with you. If I had known you were this cold–blooded, we should have broken up long ago.“]
He was almost hysterical.]]
I was worried about disturbing the neighbors, but I was also afraid that closing the door would only make things worse.[]
Fortunately, just then, Hannah rushed in.]
She shot me a sharp–glare, then grabbed Liam’s arm pitifully and cooed, “Zimo, you’re drunk. Let me take you home, okay?“]
Seeing Hannah, Liam seemed to regain a sliver of sanity.[]
He calmed down a bit, gave me one last deep look, then turned and let Hannah help him slowly down the stairs.[]
After that, I rarely heard any news about Liam.]
Hannah would sometimes post about their happy life together, but the posts were usually deleted within minutes.[]

Then Hannah’s account went silent too.
But I heard from Olivia that Liam’s company wasn’t doing well.[]
Due to his neglectful management, there was some internal turmoil. Combined with Hannah’s bullying, a large number of employees had already quit.[]
Liam tried to stop the situation from escalating, but it was too late.[]
Some of the colleagues I got along with even came to me and Olivia. They were the ones who had helped build the company with me. Olivia and I both offered them positions without hesitation.[]
From them, I also heard some news about Liam’s personal life.]]
Apparently, he and Hannah fought frequently, sometimes even in front of everyone at the office.[]
At first, Hannah was very submissive to Liam and would always apologize. But after a few times, she started slamming her fist on the table and arguing with him. Once, during a particularly nasty fight, she tore up a proposal that was due to a client, costing the company hundreds of thousands.]
