Julian’s voice thundered across the silent crowd like a bomb going off.]]

I looked at Harrison with complete indifference: “My husband committed adultery and bigamy. His mistress destroyed federal property and organized a mob assault against me.“]
“Handle it according to federal law.“]
I turned to leave as they all collapsed in terror.[]
Even ever–composed Harrison grabbed my arm desperately: “Victoria, wait! I thought you were just playing house with some fake job! I didn’t know–please forgive me! I’ll change!“]]
My smile was arctic: “Funny how you want to change NOW, Harrison. Minutes ago you were threatening to destroy me. Said you were Washington’s king.“[]
“You’re not sorry, Harrison. You’re scared.“[]
“If I were nobody, would you be begging? Would you promise to be faithful?“]
“No. You’d keep being the same arrogant piece of shit.“[]
“Like I said–time for you to step down.“[]
I walked away without looking back.]
In the end, Harrison and Lillian were convicted and imprisoned. After signing the divorce papers, I returned to my classified work at the CIA.
Heard Ellsworth Enterprises went bankrupt after the scandal.[]
But that wasn’t my concern anymore. I had a country to serve.[]
