That’s when I noticed Mirena’s stuffed toy was completely torn apart.]]

The living room was packed with Langford family members, all staring at me with different expressions.]

A woman in a face mask was pushing open Mirena’s door in the dead of night…[]

As she left, the woman looked up at the camera.[]
Those eyes looked exactly like my mother’s. Even the build and the way she walked were similar.]
She was wearing a mask, so even I, her own daughter, almost believed it.[]
I stared at the video, my blood turning to ice.]
My mother was dead, and they were still slandering her![]
Mirena kept crying pitifully. “Sera, I know you’ve always hated me, but this was the only thing my mom left me. Did you really have to destroy it?“]
Grayson’s face was black as thunder. “Sera, you evil bitch.“]
The other Langford family members started talking trash about me too.

“Well, she’s from nothing. Not classy like Mirena.“[]
“Poor Grayson, stuck with such a scheming woman.“[]
My hands were shaking as I held the divorce papers.]]
“Then call the police.” My voice was quiet but determined.[]
Grayson acted like I’d told the funniest joke ever.[]
“Sera, we have it all on camera. You’re still gonna deny it? You think I won’t have you thrown in jail?“[]
But I caught a flash of guilt in Mirena’s eyes.[]
“Sera, just apologize to me and I’ll forgive you.“[]

I stared hard at Mirena, catching every bit of her panic and guilt.]
I grabbed my phone and started dialing 9-1…]
But before I could hit the last 1, someone snatched my phone away.

He smashed my phone against the wall. “Enough! The Langford family won’t be humiliated like this!“[]
My phone shattered against the wall, screen cracking everywhere.[]
I suddenly started laughing. The sound was harsh and bitter.]
“Humiliated? Grayson, you’re already humiliating enough.“[]
“Are you done making a scene?” Grayson’s face was livid.]]
I said nothing, just pulled out a death certificate from my pocket.]
“Look closely, Grayson. Eleanor Whitmore, my mother, died of a heart attack one week ago!”
I threw the death certificate right at his face.[]
Grayson froze.
He looked down at the certificate, then snapped his head back up to stare at me.[]
Mirena covered her mouth, gasping in fake disbelief. “Sera, you actually bribed someone at the crematorium?“[]
That comment made everyone look at me with even more suspicion.[]
Grayson visibly relaxed.[]
