**Chapter 10**
All the way, Julian drove with a distracted mind.
Chloe, she supposedly loved cats so much. The first time he saw her, that stray cat was so filthy, its fur all matted together.
But she didn’t seem disgusted at all and carefully held the cat in her arms.
… Yet now, she said she hated stray cats the most.
Julian felt a growing unease.
After dropping Chloe off at home, he immediately called Max. “Get me the surveillance footage from that day. I need to know where Chloe went after saving the stray cat!”
Soon, Max relayed the information.
“Miss Chloe took the cat to a pet clinic.”
“Send me the address, now!”
“Yes, sir.”
A second later, Julian received the pet clinic’s address from Max.
He immediately drove over.
The pet clinic door was pushed open forcefully, startling the vets inside. “Sir, are you here to see to your pet?”
“No.”
Julian pulled up the video on his phone.

Julian pulled up the video on his phone.
It was footage from his dashcam that day.
Chloe, protecting the small cat, almost got hit by his car.
She rolled several times on the ground with the cat before stopping. She had several scrapes, but the kitten was perfectly safe in her arms.
Julian asked, “Six months ago, a girl brought a cat here. Do you remember her?”
The vet immediately recognized her. “Oh, her!mber! She handed out flyers for a long time to pay for the kitten’s treatment.”
Handed out flyers?
At this, Julian’s sense of unease intensified.
Because ever since that day, Chloe had lived within his sight.
She went to school, came home, and went shopping with her female classmates, all as per her usual routine. She never handed out flyers.
“Look, that’s the kitten she rescued-”
The vet pointed to a cat tree not far away, where a small white cat lay, its fur fluffy and looking very gentle.
The vet sighed. “At the time, this cat had feline distemper, and we all thought it wouldn’t survive. That girl cried and begged us to save it. We couldn’t bear to refuse, so we tried our best. We never expected a miracle to happen; the kitten actually survived!”
Another female vet added, “That’s right, we all thought the girl’s kindness moved the heavens! And saving the kitten cost nearly thirty thousand. The girl herself had no formal education and was so poor she could only do the lowest–paying manual jobs, but she bit the bullet and worked several jobs a day to pay off the treatment fees.”
“…..No formal education?” Julian’s voice began to tremble. “How do you know?”
The female vet said, “She mentioned it once when she came to pay. She also had a twin sister, and their family was not well–off, so she gave the opportunity to study to her sister and started working early herself.”
Twin sister…
Julian felt his vision blacken, and he stumbled backward several steps.
Could it be that the one who saved the stray cat wasn’t Chloe at all, but Riley?
But that couldn’t be right. He clearly picked up Chloe’s student ID that day!
How could Riley possibly have Chloe’s student ID?
“Oh, right,” the female vet suddenly remembered something else. “She also asked me if having a student ID could get her a discount. Sigh, I wanted to help her, but this isn’t a hot pot restaurant. A student ID is no use here!”
