Julian’s phone buzzed.
He quickly silenced it, afraid the sound would disturb Chloe’s rest.
After glancing at the message, he quietly walked out.
Max, the assistant, was waiting outside. Upon seeing Julian, he reported, “Mr. Fuentes, Riley has been left in the heavy rain for two days and two nights now. If she isn’t sent to the hospital, she probably won’t make it.”
That day, with Mr. Fuentes‘ permission, the men didn’t hold back.
Riley was, after all, just a frail woman. Injured and soaked in rain for two days, she must be on the verge of death.
Julian’s face flashed with a hint of disgust. “Have someone send her to the hospital. She is Chloe’s twin sister, after all. I hear twins have a
telepathic connection. If she really dies, Chloe will be heartbroken.”
“Yes, I’ll go right away.”
“Oh, and don’t send her to this hospital. Choose another one. I finally have a chance to be alone with Chloe. I don’t want to see that ill–fated woman again.”
“Understood. I’ll handle it.”
Julian returned to the hospital room. Looking at Chloe’s peaceful sleeping face, his heart felt serene.
He had fallen in love with her three years ago.
That day, his car almost hit her as she crossed the street. She stood there so calmly, cradling a small cat.
She apologized, “I’m so sorry, sir, for causing you trouble. But I couldn’t stand by and watch this kitten get run over, so I had to risk saving it.”
The kitten was a stray, born not long ago, its downy fur not yet gone.
Chloe stood there holding the cat, looking frail and delicate, but her eyes were bright and beautiful.
He instantly memorized her face, standing there in a daze for a long time, unable to snap out of it.
She bowed, then turned and left.
Only after her figure had vanished did he awaken as if from a dream.
He found a student ID on the ground, with the name: [Chloe Miller).
He used his connections to find her home address and her school.
Then he began his ardent pursuit.
But Chloe looked perplexed. “Sir, do we know each other?”
She seemed to have forgotten that she had just saved a small stray cat in front of him not long ago,
But it didn’t matter. He would forever remember her beautiful and defiant look that day.
