Chapter 13 The Day She Agreed to Divorce Kolton
Cecilia thought, “So Kolton married me only to hide their relationship from his family?
“It’s more unacceptable than his cheating!”
She bit her lower lip, her eyes red, her face colorless.
Her life changed dramatically within only days.
She thought Kolton had feelings for her despite his indifference to her. But then, she found it was her wishful thinking and that he had an affair.
Now, she even learned that he had married her with a hidden agenda.
Bitterness washed over her when she got determined to divorce.
After a long while, she finally calmed down.
“I can’t choose my family, but I can choose my husband. I don’t want a husband who doesn’t love me.”
Kolton’s telling her to prevent pregnancy meant that he didn’t want her to have his baby.
When he could, he would probably divorce her and marry Iris.
Then, Cecilia would be older and in a more difficult situation.
If he wanted to use his marriage as a cover and date Iris secretly forever like Veronica had said, Cecilia wouldn’t continue the marriage either.
As Kolton’s wife, Cecilia had to give birth to a baby sooner or later. She couldn’t change that, as couldn’t Kolton.

She grew up in a family without love. Her father never took her mother seriously. She didn’t want her kid to be like her.
“OK, then. To find the evidence of him cheating with her…” Veronica was trying to tell Cecilia the plan she came up with last night.
But Cecilia interrupted, “Vivi, I don’t want to catch him in the act. I just want to divorce him.”
Their relationship was doomed, and she thought it was stupid to make things more complicated.
She just wanted to say goodbye to her pitiful self in the marriage.
“Will Kolton give you money if you divorce without something on him? With no money, your dad will make you marry someone else.” Veronica was anxious. “You don’t have to tell others about their affair. You can just use the evidence to threaten them to give you money.”
“If he doesn’t intend to give me any money, I will not be able to make him do that no matter how.”
Cecilia knew Kolton well.
If he intended to give her money, she didn’t have to threaten him.
But if he didn’t intend to do that, he had many ways to deal with her and even get back at her.
“Kolton wouldn’t have done this to you if he were that kind,” Veronica mumbled.
Cecilia rubbed her sore cheeks and managed to shake the awful things off her mind.
Then, she forced a smile at Veronica. “Thank you for staying up all night for me. Go sleep now.”

“Not at all.” Veronica clapped her chest. “No one dares to mess with me. I need something to expend my energy. If anything happens to you, tell me…”
Veronica was great to Cecilia.
Cecilia was touched and swore in her heart that she would repay Veronica someday.
That meant she needed to get stronger for Veronica and for herself to show Kolton that she deserved respect.
She would be like a stranger to him and not want to see him again after divorcing. But she still hoped that she could make something of herself as a designer.
She would let Kolton know that she could not only be a housewife but also be a working woman.
Her ambition and painful memories of Kolton took her mind somewhere else.
She figured the strange number was Iris‘.
Iris knew that she was Kolton’s wife, so Iris packed up clothes for Kolton and took out black stockings and a bra on his bed in front of her.
After all, being Kolton’s mistress was not something Iris would be proud of. Why would she be so stupid to give herself away?
Cecilia pinched her eyebrows, her head in a sharp pain.
It was the first time she had encountered something so tricky and terrible, so she didn’t know what to do.
After thinking for a while, she blocked the strange number.
She didn’t want to let any similar photos or videos ruin her mood again.

After all, it had taken her a long time to make up her mind.
Kianna was angry with Cecilia leaving without saying goodbye, so
Kianna called and questioned her. Luckily, she managed to please Kianna in the end.
The next two days, Cecilia was preparing for the interviews on Monday.
Work forced unhappiness out of her mind.
At 10 am on Monday, Cecilia arrived at Lumineer Studio and told the receptionist why she was there.
The receptionist asked her, “What’s your name?”
“Cecilia Bradshaw.”
The receptionist stopped flipping through the resumes and looked up, saying, “Ms. Bradshaw, I’m sorry that all our designer assistant jobs have been filled.”
Cecilia glanced at the resumes on the desk.
Right then, a 20–something man who looked green strode over. “Hello, I’m here to apply for the designer assistant job.”
The receptionist looked Cecilia in the eye with embarrassment for a few seconds and asked about the man’s name. Then, she gave the man a pass.
“I want to know why.” Cecilia looked at the receptionist with no emotions on her face.
Cecilia knew something was wrong last Friday when she was turned down several times in a row.
The receptionist faltered, “Ms. Bradshaw, please don’t take it out on me. It’s my boss’s order. I glanced through your resume. You are better than most other fresh graduates. There’s no reason you are not hired. Maybe

you offended someone.
Cecilia thanked the receptionist and left Lumineer Studio thoughtfully.
She wasn’t sure if it was an excuse.
After all, she had never offended anyone.
She’d been a housewife in the past few years and didn’t get a chance to meet new people.
Her brows snapped together.
Could it be Kolton?
But she couldn’t figure it out. Thus, she planned to go to Azureon Group first. If she was turned down again, she would try to fish for information from Kolton.
Before she got on the bus to Azuréon Group, someone in the Azureon HR Department called her.
“Hello, is that Ms. Bradshaw?”
“Yes.” Cecilia ran her fingers along her long hair, standing in the shade of a bus stop with her back to the road,
“I’m from the Azureon HR Department. We’re sorry that we have to put off your interview for 3 days. Will that be OK for you?”
Cecilia’s curly eyelashes fluttered. She cut to the chase, “Do you want to just put off or want to make me give up myself?”
The person on the phone stayed silent for a few seconds and then responded, “Just put off. We were told that the head of the Design Department will be changed from Mr. Walker to Mr. Harrington, Mr. Harrington will come back in 3 days. He will interview you himself.”

It wasn’t like an excuse.
Cecilia had no choice but to wait, so she said, “OK. Thank you.”
While waiting, Cecilia played the piano at the restaurant where Veronica worked.
Soon, it was Wednesday, the day she agreed to divorce Kolton.
She stared at the message Trenton had sent that Kolton would see her at the courthouse at 9 am, waves of emotions emerging from her heart.
She couldn’t believe time had passed by so fast.
And she could barely remember how she had gone through the past week.
The only things she remembered were her 2 meetings with Kolton and 2 meetings with Iris.
