Chapter 15 Do You Know You Were Wrong?
Cecilia was in a panic, feeling both embarrassed and angry.
Kolton, however, was as cool as a cucumber, his arched eyebrows giving away his superior attitude.
Could she threaten him?
Maybe she could right now, but could she deal with his retaliation later?
Cecilia bit her lip, her lips quivering a little. “Kolton, p–please…”
Before she could finish, her phone rang from her bag.
It was some random number. At a moment like this, she didn’t have time to deal with it, so she just hung up.
She looked back at Kolton and picked up where she left off. “If you save Quincy, I’ll do whatever you say!”
“What do you think you can do for me?” Kolton didn’t even try to hide how much he looked down on Cecilia.
He didn’t really need her to do anything; he just wanted her to be as gentle and obedient as she used to be.
འ
She was all prickly now. Even though she didn’t actually hurt him, he couldn’t stand seeing her like this.
It was like she thought she had been wronged, and he had done something terrible to her.
Cecilia was left speechless.

What did she have to offer Kolton that would make him happy?
Over the past two years, the only time he ever lost control was in bed, when his sharp features softened for her.
Everything else she did never got a second glance from him.
Cecilia dropped her eyes, her long, thick eyelashes casting a little shadow on her lower eyelids. She was quiet.
Kolton casually leaned against the desk. He lifted a hand and cupped Cecilia’s chin
He looked at her smooth, fair face like he was checking out a piece of merchandise.
“Do you know you were wrong?”
His sharp eyes, full of sarcasm and coldness, stared right at Cecilia.
They chipped away at the pride she had been holding onto these past few days, turning it to dust.
But this was the way out he was giving her.
If she admitted she was wrong, things could go back to normal.
Kolton’s intense presence wrapped around Cecilia.
He didn’t care that this way out came at her expense.
Cecilia’s bright eyes met Kolton’s piercing, deep ones.
She didn’t know what admitting she was wrong would mean.
But it was the only chance that Kolton might help Quincy.
She had no other choice.

“I…”
Before she could finish what she was saying, Trenton’s phone rang sharply.
He quickly turned around to answer it. “Hello? Hold on a sec.
He turned back, awkwardly holding out the phone to Cecilia. “Mrs. Thompson, it’s the lawyer.”
“What?” Cecilia’s eyes flickered with confusion as she looked at the phone.
She didn’t understand what was going on and hesitated to take it.
Kolton’s eyes narrowed as he stared at the phone.
Feeling nervous, Trenton put the call on speaker.
“Ms. Bradshaw, this is the Mendez Law Firm. Please bring any materials related to your brother’s case to our office right away. The lawyer needs to understand the details.”
The strange man’s voice on the other end was deep and serious.
“Okay!” Cecilia responded without hesitation and pushed away Kolton’s hand that was still holding her chin.
Kolton’s other hand was bracing against the desk, his knuckles turning white. The relaxed vibe around him disappeared in an instant. He pulled back his hand and squeezed his wrist.
He glared at Trenton with those cold, intense eyes.
The big office fell silent.
Cecilia swallowed hard, her eyes darting back and forth between Trenton and Kolton.

“I gotta go. I’ve got other stuff to do.”
She didn’t know what had messed up, but she didn’t have time to figure it out. She just wanted to get out of there.
“Stop.” Kolton’s voice was icy cold.
Cecilia’s waist tightened as Kolton’s long arm grabbed her, pulling her back despite the two steps she had already taken.
She turned her head to look at Kolton, her eyes showing a mix of begging and fear.
Kolton turned back to Trenton and asked, “Who said you could get a lawyer for her?”
Trenton turned pale, and he hung his head in silence. He had no words, but he felt really wronged.
Two years ago, when Cecilia got married to Kolton, Garrett started using that connection to get benefits.
Cecilia didn’t know much about the Business Community, so Garrett skipped her and talked to Kolton directly
At first, Kolton would handle it, but as Garrett kept asking for more and more, Kolton got tired of it and told Trenton to deal with it.
After Trenton took over, he helped the Bradshaw family with anything that could bring them benefits.
It started with business stuff, but later some personal requests got mixed in. Trenton asked Kolton what to do, and Kolton told him to figure it out himself.
He did what he could and didn’t push what he couldn’t.
So when Garrett called Trenton about the lawyer, he took care of it

without thinking.
But he forgot that Cecilia and Kolton were getting a divorce.
Every word they threw at each other just now gave him the jitters.
He tried to say something a few times, but neither of them gave him a chance to speak.
“Hand me the phone.” Kolton reached out to Trenton.
Cecilia’s heart jumped into her throat, and she clutched Kolton’s wrist with both hands without thinking.
“Kolton…”
Kolton’s eyes were set like stone, and Cecilia’s strength didn’t even faze
him.
Trenton didn’t dare to go against Kolton, so he turned on the phone and gave it right to him.
Bang!
The office door flew open, and someone rushed in. “Mr. Fu, Ms. Velasquez is in trouble. You gotta go help her!”
The loud noise startled Cecilia, and she instinctively moved closer to Kolton.
But the next second, Kolton pushed her away, and her hip slammed into the edge of the desk.
She winced in pain, cold sweat breaking out on her forehead as she hissed through her teeth.
Kolton dropped Trenton’s phone and headed for the door, looking worried.

“What happened to Iris?”
He disappeared down the hallway, his anxious voice fading away.
By the time Cecilia caught her breath, Kolton was gone.
He left in such a hurry that he probably didn’t have time to call Vicente.
If Cecilia got to the law firm first and signed a contract with Vicente, then Vicente would have to take Quincy’s case.
“Trenton, thanks.
With that, she clutched her side and hurried out.
Cecilia sprinted out of the NimbusCore Group as Kolton’s Maybach was pulling out of the underground garage.
Through the window, she could see Kolton’s worried face. The car zoomed past her, and he didn’t even glance at her.
Or maybe he did see her but was too busy to care.
He was in a rush to see what happened to Iris.
Cecilia was actually kind of thankful to Iris for giving her a chance to save Quincy at this moment.
She shook off her thoughts and took a taxi straight to the Bradshaw’s place.
When Cecilia got to the house, Jasmin was the only one there.
Seeing Cecilia, she rushed over and asked, “Did you get in touch with
Mr. Mendez?”
“I came to grab some stuff for the case and take it to the law firm. Mom, don’t worry. Everything’s gonna be…”
00:44
Cecilia didn’t want to say for sure that she had reached Vicente.
She wasn’t sure if she could meet him before Kolton did something.
Jasmin had cried herself red–eyed and looked completely worn out.
Cecilia was about to say something to comfort Jasmin, but Jasmin cut her off. “I’ve got a copy here. Take it and go!”
It was a dashcam video showing what happened when Quincy hit the woman with his car.
Jasmin stuffed it into Cecilia’s hand and pushed her toward the door. “Call me if anything changes!”
The door to the apartment was a bit narrow, and in her haste, Cecilia didn’t watch where she was going. Her arm hit the door frame with a dull thud.
She automatically grabbed her elbow.
Jasmin glanced at her arm, then quickly looked outside. “Where’s your
car?”
“I… I left in a hurry and took a taxi,” Cecilia said, wincing.
