Chapter 17 Questions From the Reporters
Now, Cecilia was even more determined to divorce.
However, she had to save Quincy first and had to postpone the divorce matter for now.
The thing of Quincy hitting a person hit the headlines, and so did the thing of NimbusCore Group’s vice president’s dog being kicked and having its ribs broken by an unreasonable neighbor.
Both incidents aroused many discussions.
Regarding Quincy’s case, most of the people were on the dead’s side.
They just read the news and simply thought that Quincy was an idle rich young man.
They thought either Quincy was a drunk driver or he had road rage.
There were a lot of comments against Quincy online.
Meanwhile, there were also a lot of discussions about Iris‘ dog’s case.
Many dog owners reckoned that the neighbor must have used a lot of strength in that kick to break the dog’s rib. He was immoral and heartless, and they supported Iris in fighting against him.
Cecilia didn’t have time to read the news. She got a call from Jasmin.
“Cecilia, your dad was so angry and got sick because of it. He’s now in the hospital. You’re the only one who can take care of Quincy’s case, now…”
“How’s Dad?” Cecilia was so plagued now. “Which hospital?”

But Jasmin didn’t answer Cecilia’s questions and just said, “He’s fine. You don’t have to come over. Just focus on dealing with Quincy’s matter!”
It seemed like all they cared about was Quincy.
Accidents came one after another, making Cecilia flustered and exhausted.
She forced herself to calm down and followed Moses’s advice.
Moses would go to the police station to know more about the case, while she would go to the hospital to visit the dead’s mom.
The dead’s mom was sent to the hospital due to excessive sadness.
Cecilia came to the ward with a basket of fruit and some nutritional supplements.
The door was half open, and she could hear the woman’s weak and sad wail.
“My poor Alisa! Why is this happening to you? I really can’t live without you!
“And my poor grandson. He’s only three, but he’s already lost his mom!”
Cecilia paused while pushing open the door, and she pursed her lips.
She learned from the news that the dead’s name was Alisa Moody, a 32- year–old woman.
She still had her parents and a kid to take care of, but she died in car crash. Of course, her family couldn’t accept it.
But Cecilia didn’t understand why such a woman would have become a racketeer and ended her own life.
When Cecilia heard the wail from inside the ward, she even had a

momentary thought that maybe Alisa was not a racketeer, and maybe it was really an accident.
But she had carefully examined the dashcam video.
Although Quincy was driving fast, he didn’t exceed the speed limit. He didn’t answer or make phone calls or get distracted by something. It was Alisa who directly lunged at Quincy’s car.
Coming back from her thoughts, Cecilia took a deep breath, pushed the door open, and walked in.
In the ward, besides the old lady crying on the bed, there was also a man in his forties.
He was a bit bald and also had his eyes red from crying.
When Cecilia walked in, the two of them instantly looked over.
“I’m sorry. I’m Quincy’s sister, and I…..”
Cecilia’s appearance instantly stirred up Alisa’s mom’s emotions, and she picked up her pillow and smashed at Cecilia, yelling, “What are you doing here? I want that murderer to die for killing my daughter!”
The pillow hit Cecilia’s cheek, causing her to stumble. She looked at the pillow at her feet and said to Alisa’s mom, “Please calm down a bit. Your health is much more important now. If it’s really my brother’s fault, the police will give you justice.”
Cecilia wanted to put the basket of fruit on the bedside table, but the man immediately grabbed it and pulled Cecilia outside the ward rudely.
“We don’t need your things! You wanna bribe us with these things and let us spare your brother’s life? Dream on! Your brother killed my sister!”
With that, he threw the basket to the ground, causing the fruit inside to fall out.

Cecilia was also rudely pushed out of the ward and fell to the ground.
Alisa’s brother pointed at Cecilia’s nose and roared, “Don’t let me see you again, or I’ll beat your shit out! Your brother must get the death penalty, and your family must pay us compensation!”
With that, he slammed the door.
The noise here attracted various gazes.
Many medical staff and patients came out of the wards and looked over with curiosity.
Meanwhile, some news reporters carrying machines hurriedly ran over from the end of the long hallway.
The Bradshaw family used to be prosperous. But in the past two years, their business had declined, and they hadn’t been mentioned much in the Business Community. However, reporters still hadn’t forgotten them.
They recognized Cecilia and immediately swarmed over.
“Ms. Bradshaw, your brother caused a death. What will your Bradshaw family do? Why haven’t your parents shown up?”
“Are you here to bribe the dead’s family? You wanna use money to solve the matter?”
“Have you ever considered the dead’s family’s feelings?”
“Do you think money can solve this matter?”
They all focused their cameras on Cecilia, capturing Cecilia’s embarrassed
state.
Cecilia lowered her head, her long black hair covering half of her face.
She had never encountered, things like this before. Sitting on the ground

and surrounded by a group of people, she even began to feel suffocated.
She shouted to these reporters, “The police will explain everything to the public!
“Please make way!”
She covered her face with one hand and stood up from the ground, trying to find a way out of this place.
But it was too crowded here now. Just as Cecilia stood up and wanted to leave, she was grabbed by someone and pulled back to continue facing the reporters‘ questions.
“You’re the driver’s family. Shouldn’t you apologize to the dead’s family?”
“Your parents still haven’t shown up. Are they trying to bail your brother out? Are you here just to try to draw everyone’s attention away?”
“The Bradshaw family can do that, right? Solve everything with money. But have you ever considered the dead’s family’s feelings?”
Words full of accusations and suggestiveness kept coming out of those reporters‘ mouths.
Cecilia’s ears were buzzing, and she felt like her head was about to explode.
She was so helpless now. Suddenly, scenes of Kolton and Iris being interviewed together came into her mind.
After Iris appeared in Kolton’s life, Cecilia specifically searched online for the press conference Kolton and Iris attended together.
The reporters would occasionally throw some tricky questions to Iris, not Kolton as they didn’t dare.
But every time, Kolton would help Iris. Over time, the reporters also

dared not make things difficult for Iris.
Kolton couldn’t bear to see Iris being troubled.
If Kolton were here now, would he also help get Cecilia out of the trouble?
They were a married couple, weren’t they?
All of a sudden, a magnetic voice sounded from behind the crowd.
“The thing is still not clear now. Please be careful what you say. The Bradshaw family has the right to hold you legally responsible.”
Because the reporters were still talking, Cecilia couldn’t hear that voice very clearly.
She instinctively raised her head and saw a man in a suit behind the crowd. At that moment, a glimmer of hope appeared in her heart.
The reporters instantly quieted down and looked over.
Behind them stood a tall and slender man, and they quickly made way for him.
Jerome was dressed in a white suit, with short and neat hair, exuding a sense of gentleness and elegance.
He walked to Cecilia, took off his suit jacket, and draped it over her shoulders.
Cecilia’s eyes dimmed a bit. Though she felt a bit warm in her body now, she felt a sense of loss in her heart…
She should’ve known that Kolton would never care for her.
Not only that, he even heartlessly snatched Vicente away!

Disappointed, Cecilia called out faintly, “Jerome…”
“I’ll send you home.” Jerome nodded slightly, reached out to hold her shoulder, and walked towards the elevator with her.
Cecilia didn’t feel like speaking right now. She only nodded slightly and followed Jerome to leave.
The reporters looked at each other. As they didn’t dare to stop Jerome, they could only watch the two of them leave.
In the cramped elevator, Cecilia leaned against the wall at the corner.
She asked, “Jerome, when did you come back?”
Because of Veronica, Cecilia was quite familiar with Jerome.
Jerome was two years older than Cecilia. They attended the same university, and Jerome was her senior.
Also because of Veronica, Jerome took good care of Cecilia a lot at school.
Cecilia took Jerome as her brother.
But it had been two years since they last met, so Cecilia felt a bit unfamiliar right now.
They just met again, and Jerome saw Cecilia in big trouble and helped her out. So, Cecilia felt both gratitude and embarrassment.
“Just came back today.” Jerome kept a polite distance from her. “I’ve heard about Quincy’s matter. It’s a bit tricky. Didn’t you ask Kolton for help?”
